WINEP Durham Transfer

As part of an £10 million scheme, Northumbrian Water will be carrying out essential works to improve the performance and flexibility of our wastewater network and wastewater treatment works in the Plawsworth, Pity Me and Brasside areas of County Durham. The scheme will help to improve the water quality of the Blackdene Burn for the benefit of people, the environment and wildlife and ensure that critical wastewater assets continue to serve the community effectively.

Good morning,

Within Plawsworth Sewerage Treatment Works the team continue with installation of pipework and cabling to various chambers and MCC Kiosk as well as permanent electrical works within the Kiosk and MCC.

Esh Stantec have completed the backfill of the flow meter chamber ahead of the concrete slab reinstatement. The team continue to remove the easement fencing from the land area before, hand filling of post holes with suitable topsoil.

Rotavating of topsoil and seeding is underway with the installation of galvanised ladders to chambers completed.

Within Pity Me Sewerage Treatment Works the installation of pipework and cabling to the valve chamber and flow meter chamber continues into next week. 

The reconstruction of wet well collar to suit anti floatation requirements has been completed, while the team continue to construct the roof slabs for the flow meter chamber. 

Gravity sewer pipework is now installed and work has commenced on the under track crossing which will take place over the next 2 weeks. The reinforced concrete roadway is complete as part of Brasside Sewerage Treatment Works.
