GENERAL PROJECT

Bellingham Sewage Treatment Works

Together with our supply partners, we plan to carry out work between Monday 1st November 2021 and Friday 28th February 2022. This essential work is part of an investment programme of over £2 million and will include repair and replacement work to the Sewage Treatment Works at Bellingham. We are working closely with our supply partner to make sure any disruption is kept to a minimum. If you are going to be directly affected by our work, our site team will let you know in advance. Typical working hours will be Monday to Friday, between 8.00am and 6.00pm. During this work, our vehicles will need access to the sewer pumping station which is located off Boat Lane. You may see some increase in vehicle movement. We'd really like to hear from you if you have any queries so please get in touch using the 'Contact us' button at the top of the page or leave a comment below. Ben Gilbert NWL Project Manager

Project updates

Update by Christopher Bond

Hi Everyone

My name Chris Bond and i am the Northumbrian Water Project Manager for the works at Bellingham Sewerage Treatment Works (STW).

Following a delay to the proposed works at Bellingham STW, I have today delivered letters to those properties in close proximity of the Sewerage Treatment Works and spoken to a few of you whilst I was out delivering. As per the information in the letter, we are proposing to start works on Monday 01st November to carry out repair and refurbishment works and this will be done intermittently until Febuary 2022. This work will be undertaken by our contractor, Gowland and Dawson. Whilst the works are ongoing, you may see an increase in construction traffic during these times, however we will look to keep any disruption to a minimum.

If you have any questions or queries, please comment below

Thanks

Chris

Update by Shafqat Akbar

Hello again. I want to update you on the works that are happening at the Bellingham site. We will be replacing the filter media in the existing filter beds and refurbishing the the exising filter tanks.

The site team recevied the temporary filter treatment equipment two weeks ago. We have installed this equipment and are letting the filter media "seed" before we divert the sewage flows through the temporary treatment. It's all going to plan

The next phase will be to divert the flows and start working on the existing filter beds.

The site teams will carry out the refurbishment works to the existing filter beds. We will replace the tiles at the bottom of the filter beds and place new filter media into the tanks.

The site works will be carried out without affecting our neighbours. We will have some additional deliveries to the site.

Hello everyone. After yesterday's successful operations at the Bellingham treatment works, I want to update you on the next phases of our project.

We will set up, test and commission the temporary plant on the site. This will take a couple of weeks.

The replacement of the filter media will commence after the temporary plant is operational.

The site team have agreed a programme of works with Northumbrian Water and discussed the interventions required into the existing treatment works.

The treatment works will remain operational at all times during the project. We will keep our neighbours informed of any works that might affect them.

Hello everyone. We are back working at the Bellingham site. We are replacing the filter media. This project will be carried out in stages.

Today we recevied some temporary equipment. This equipment will allow the treatment works to continue some of the existing works are taken out of operation.

We used a mobile crane to to lift the temporary equipment into place.

The works were carried out without distrupting access to our neighbours.

We will be moving onto the next phase of the project and connect the temporary equipment to the existing works.
