Browns Point Sewage Pumping station, Cullercoats

Together with our partners Interserve, we plan to carry out work between 8 June 2020 until early November 2020 at Browns Point Sewage Pumping Station (SPS). The project represents a £1.2 million investment which will see an upgrade with the mechanical and electrical refurbishment of the SPS. We are working closely with Interserve our supply partner to make sure any disruption is kept to a minimum. If you are going to be directly affected by our work, our site team will let you know in advance. Typical working hours will be Monday to Friday, between 8.00am and 6.00pm. During this work there will be restricted access at the bottom of Cliff Row and the promenade by the SPS will be narrowed. We'd really like to hear from you if you have any queries so please get in touch using the 'Contact us' button at the top of the page or leave a comment below. Simon Cossar NWL Project Manager

Update by Shafqat Akbar

Hello everyone. I want to give you an update on the progress we have made at this pumping station.

Our project is substantially complete. Our site teams have completed the works and demobilised from site. We need to plan our return to complete the reinstatement of the grass areas where we had our site compound, storage areas and access road.

We have temporarity cordoned off an area of the site to allow our landscpae contractor carry out the remaining reinstatement works.

The pumping station remained fully operational during our project. We need to arrange a date when it will be suitable to carry out the remaining snagging works at locations where we tied into the existing pumping station plant and equipment.

This photograph shows the pumping station building at the pedestrian walkway level. We have completed all planned works inside the pumping station. We need to finish off some minor snagging items at the pumping station.
