Durham City Sewer Network Improvements

We are planning work to improve the performance of the sewer network in Durham City and improve your environment.

Update by Sarah Jayne Vickers

Good Afternoon all, hope you are well under the circumstances.

Good progress has been made on Old Elvet, the installation of the pipe has progressed up past Court Lane and we are now nearing the junction with Green Lane to meet up with where the second squad started pipe laying on Whinney Hill.

The Second squad are continuing working on Whinney Hill and are approximately 114m meters away from the entrance to the new housing estate.

As well as these two working locations we have another squad, starting the construction of a chamber located in the foot path next to the Swan and Three Cygnets. There will be a single lane closure on New Elvet for the duration of this work and is scheduled to be put up on Wednesday 13th for up to 10 weeks.

We will continue to update you all on how the works progress but in the meantime, please don't hesitate to contact me on you have any questions or concerns.

We are working in line with UK Government guidance regarding Covid-19 and are committed to continue with our site operations whilst safeguarding the wellbeing of our operatives and the public.

The Government guidance can be found following the link below.
