GENERAL PROJECT

Fontburn Lime Dosing

Northumbrian Water is investing £3 million to upgrade the Water Treatment Works at Fontburn to make sure you continue to receive excellent quality tap water in the future. The work, which will commence from early March 2020 will see upgrades to the facilities and water treatment equipment within the site and we aim to complete this by September 2020. Northumbrian Water’s trusted partner, Interserve Construction Limited will be carrying out this work on our behalf. Residents may notice an increase of vehicular traffic to and from the site whilst deliveries are made although we will of course do all we can to keep the disruption to a minimum. Please be assured that your water supply will not be affected by these works. Glyn Jenkins NWL Project Manager

Update by Shafqat Akbar

Hello. In today's update, I want to let you know about the good progress we have made on the civils works packages on site.

We have started on the construction of the pre-lime "point of application" chamber.

Our teams are working inside the existing Northumbrian Water building. We are constructing the civils element of the works. These include new concrete slabs, bunds and upstands.

Steelwork operations are progressing well. The steel gantry is in place.

We are working in a number of locations on site. Our civils teams are constructing the new raw water sample point.
