GENERAL PROJECT

Lanchester Sewer Treatment Works

As part of the Water Industry National Environmental Programme (WINEP), we will be installing chemical dosing plant (ferric sulphate and sodium hydroxide) and a new tertiary treatment stage to enable the site to meet the forthcoming phosphorous discharge consent. The improvement works will cost around £6.4m, and it’s one of 27 sites within the NWG region to receive this upgrade. Phosphorous is a nutrient and can cause algae to grow in watercourses, reducing biodiversity and river water quality.

Good afternoon,

I hope you are well.

Since my last previous update last month, I have some further updates to share with you on the progress that has been made on the Treatment Works.

We have now built two out of three of the NSAF tanks and we have also got the new MCC cable trough completed. The third tank will be built following on from this and the new kiosk for the MCC will be on Site around 30th July.

We have also cleared the last of the reed bed and filled this with stone.

Should you have any questions to ask us, please don’t hesitate to add a comment in the box below and a member of the Project Team will respond.

Good afternoon,

I'd like to start off the update by introducing myself, my name is Bethany Oakley and I am the Customer Liaison Officer looking after Lanchester Sewer Treatment Works on behalf of Mott Macdonald Bentley (MMB). Going forward I will be adding updates to the portal as the works progress.

I will include some photos to my update for you to take a look at.

Since our last update, I am pleased to report that the tankering operation has been complete however, the ecological visit for nesting birds is currently ongoing.

We have also reclaimed a small portion of reed bed which will allow us to potentially start building the new MCC (motor control centre) trench.

The NSAF reinforcement is also coming together nicely and we have poured the second base slab for the chemical bunds. We are now continuing with the chemical bund walls.

Should you have any questions or queries, please dont hesitate to leave a comment below and a member of the project team will get back to you.

Update by Gabrielle Ward

Good Morning,

It's been a while since our last post, so here's a quick update on whats been happening on site.

The compound has now been fully setup and is in use. We have started works in the chemical dosing area that has consisted of exposing an old retaining wall and then breaking all of the concrete out form the wall and the base. The team have also constructed new and safe walk ways around the Sewage Treatment Works.

Keep a look out for more updates in the next month or so!

If you have any questions, please leave a comment below and a member of the project team will get back to you.

Update by Gabrielle Ward

Good afternoon,

Following on from Charles' update I thought I'd take this opportunity to introduce myself and some of the Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) team.

My name is Gaby Ward, I am the Customer Liaison Officer for Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) and will be conducting the engagement with our customers and posting regular updates on here. Working alongside myself at MMB is Jason Bradley, our Contracts Manager and Alex Brown our Site Agent.

Over the next two weeks we will be starting to set up the site compound. Please be aware during this time, there will be an increase of vehicles accessing the STW delivering materials and the site cabins. If you are in this area, please take extra care. Once we have our working area set up, the volume of traffic will start to decrease and with our work being within the STW, any disruption should be minimal.

The site will be closing down for the Christmas break from Wednesday 20th December until Tuesday 2nd January.

On behalf of the project team, we hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year!
