Lanchester Sewer Treatment Works

As part of the Water Industry National Environmental Programme (WINEP), we will be installing chemical dosing plant (ferric sulphate and sodium hydroxide) and a new tertiary treatment stage to enable the site to meet the forthcoming phosphorous discharge consent. The improvement works will cost around £6.4m, and it’s one of 27 sites within the NWG region to receive this upgrade. Phosphorous is a nutrient and can cause algae to grow in watercourses, reducing biodiversity and river water quality.

Before we leave for the Christmas Break, I wanted to provide a final update for 2024 and share some recent progress that the Site Team have continued to deliver, a great end to the Year!

Flows now turned.
NSAF seeding period started. (17th December)
Overpumping is now in place for Mecana units.
Aquazone commissioning complete this week.
Intelect continue works, carrying on into the new year.
Wash water booster set has been delivered to Site.
