Hello everyone. I want to give you all a quick update on the restart of the construction works at Lockwood Beck. We are looking to restart in early May 2021.

I will update NWL Community Portal with a confirmed start date when this is agreed.

We inspected the grounds earlier. The ground conditions are not suitable for works to start.

We have some footpath  and ground works to complete.

The works at Lockwood Beck are progressing well but the weather will prevent us from finishing all of the works.

The installation of the tensar reinforcement on the embankment is almost complete.

The recent wet weather is has waterlogged the ground. We are not able to complete the construction on the top of the embankment in this site visit. We will agree a date for the return visit with Northumbrian Water. 

The works at the bottom of the embankment will continue as these will not be affected by the waterlogged ground.

We have started installing the temporary works adjacent to the redundant Northumbrian Water buildings.

In today's update, I want to talk about the works our site teams are doing.

We have set up the project compound. We have established pedestrian routes to separate pedestrians from traffic. There are hand sanitising stations set up to help with managing the covid risk. We have limited numbers of people that can be in one cabin at any time.

Following the recent rainfall, the leve of water in the reservoir is high. This photograph shows the large amount of water that flows into the spillway.

The earthworks operations are progressing well. This photograph shows the start of the strengthening works at the top of the reservoir dam.

A lot of work is progressing at the bottom of the dam. The recent wet weather has waterlogged the ground. 

Hello. We have established the site compound at the Lockwood Beck reservoir project. We are making good progress on site.

We have completed all the works on the spillway.

We can now let the reservoir water level rise to its normal level as all works on the spillway are complete.

The site team has been planning and agreeing the detail of the works on the embankment. We will be starting these works shortly.

Hello everyone. First of all a quick update on the good work the site team has completed in the previous two weeks. We have made good headway on a lot of the preliminary works. We have started operations around the spillway and cope. We have agreed access routes to the works areas with the Northumbrian Water and the local authorities. We have set up control measures that will ensure site compliance with the government Covid-19 guidance. 

Works have started on site and good progress has been made.

Northumbrian Water lowered the reservoir water level. This allowed Interserve to start works on the spillway.

We are not able to drive heavy plant and machinery over this access bridge. We have agreed with the local authority to access the site from the Whitby Road.

We have set up our compound and we are ready to carry out the improvement works.
