NIDP FLOODING PROJECT

North Billingham

We are currently undertaking a Stage Two Northumbria Intergrated Drainage Partnership (NIDP) study in North Billingham. Stage 2 is a diagnostic study where we carry out a more in depth survey, investigation and hydraulic model enhancement to address specific issues and develop opportunities at the top priority locations identified in stage 1. This includes option development and an assessment of cost of the proposed options. We then look at an assessment of benefits and beneficiaries to demonstrate the impact of the proposed project. If we are able to show that the project delivers an appropriate level of benefits ( i.e. it doesn’t cost more to construct than the value of the property that it protects) this enables us to make applications for joint funding to progress to design and construction.

Project updates

Update by Loren Jennings

Good afternoon.

My name is Loren Jennings and I am a project manager at Northumbrian Water.

I wanted you to know that this project is looking at areas of integrated flood risk in North Billingham.  This means there was risk of flooding from not just sewers or drains, but also from watercourses and surface water runoff.  The areas we will be advancing into Stage 2 are:

  • Cowbridge Beck & Halidon Way
  • Cleadon Ave & Tunstall Ave
  • Grosvenor Rd & Whitehouse Rd

If you live in these areas and wanted to share your experiences with flooding, or just give us information which could help our study, it would be very welcome.  You can also ask me questions here by replying to this update!
