Our economic regulator, Ofwat, has not allowed us the funding to complete the larger Harton and the Nook flood protection scheme. Ofwat’s determintation on our plan is now being reviewed by the Competition and Markets Authority and therefore we are not in position to commit to the larger scheme at this moment in time. However, working closely with South Tyneside Council and the local community, we have committed to completing localised upgrades to our sewer network to reduce the risk of repeat flooding in the medium term.

Project updates

Hi everyone,

I'm Paul Davison and I'm Northumbrian Water's Project Manager for the investigation work we are planning to carry out in your area. Along with the rest of the project team we will be keeping you updated as the project progresses.

You will have received a letter this week giving you some information about investigation work we are planning to carry to reduce flood risk in your area. We are also holding a customer information session at Cleadon Park Library on Wednesday 14 June from 3:00pm until 7:30pm where you can meet the project team and find out more about our planned work. If you can't make it to the customer session you can always use the 'Contact us' button at the top of this page if you have any queries or would like to speak to the project team about flooding or our initial proposals. Whichever way is best, we'd really like to hear from you.
