Roseberry Crescent, Great Ayton Flood Alleviation

We are working with the community to explore opportunities to reduce the risk of flooding. The proposed works are located along Roseberry Crescent, Roseberry Road, Roseberry Avenue, Wheatlands and Newton Road, Great Ayton and within the site which forms part of the estate of Cleveland Lodge. The proposed works involve the installation of approximately 1300m of surface water and foul water sewer for the purpose of flood alleviation. Proposed works are also to involve the construction of a SuDS basin for surface water attenuation.

Planned work

NORTHUMBRIAN WATER WORKING WITH THEIR SUPPLY PARTNERS ESH CONSTRUCTION ARE CARRYING OUT SEWER WORKS IN YOUR AREA.

We are laying new surface water sewers, separating the foul system from the surface water to remove the dual manholes to mitigate the risk of pollution.   The works will involve tunnelling adjacent to Farm Garth under the boundary of Cleveland Lodge to connect to the new surface water Sustainable Urban Drainage (SUDs) basin. SUDs are designed to attenuate access storm flows to create capacity in the existing sewer system.  The Basins are designed to manage the surface water from not only Northumbrian Waters public sewerage system but  the proposed new development at Cleveland Lodge.  The basins will attenuate the flow and slowly release the flows once the storms have subsided back into the sewerage system.

Further tunnelling will be needed to create an outlet from the SUDs basin to the existing surface water system under the boundary of Cleveland Lodge adjacent to Newton Road, south of the existing access to Cleveland Lodge.
