GENERAL PROJECT

Sacriston Sewage Treatment Works Upgrade

We are investing over £3 million to improve the performance of our wastewater treatment at Sacriston. This essential work will help to improve the water quality of the South Burn for the benefit of people, the environment and wildlife and ensure that the treatment facility continues to serve the community effectively.

Update by Paul Davison

Good morning, you should have received a postcard this week letting you know that we are preparing to start work on the upgrade to Sacriston sewage treatment works to help improve the water quality in the South Burn.

Work will begin on Monday 15 January 2024 for up to 8 months. However, as with all construction projects, unexpected delays can sometimes occur. Typical working hours will be Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.

The site is located east of the village, surrounded by woodland and we don’t expect significant disruption. However, there may be a noticeable increase in construction traffic accessing the site via the B6312 and Cross Lane during the construction period. Please note that caution should be taken when crossing the existing access track to the works.
