Seahouses Sewage Pumping Station Harbour Road

We are planning to carry out essential maintenance work within the sewer network in this area. Together with our supply partner, Interserve, we will carry out the work between Monday 20 November 2017 and Friday 22 December 2017. This essential work is part of an investment programme of over £2 million and will include the refurbishment of the sewage pumping station in Harbour Road. We are working closely with our supply partner to make sure any disruption is kept to a minimum. If you are going to be directly affected by our work, our site team will let you know in advance. Typical working hours will be Monday to Friday, between 8.00am and 6.00pm. We'd really like to hear from you if you have any queries so please get in touch using the 'Contact us' button at the top of the page or leave a comment below. Simon Cossar NWL project manager.

Project updates

Update by Brian Hall

We are finished! The new pumping station has been installed and is working well so we are leaving lovely Seahouses harbour. Thank you everyone for being so welcoming and cooperative during the works. The input and feedback we have received from the community has been invaluable, in particular; the timing of work around busy periods at the harbour, changing site security arrangments to be less obtrusive and the size and build of the kiosk so it would not impact on access to the boat stores. For comparison I have included before and after photos of the kiosk. Thank you, Brian

Update by Brian Hall

Good morning all, we are back on site and about to start work again. We will be here for the next 6 weeks or so installing the new kiosk and finishing off the job, we shouldnt cause much disruption at all. Having listened to local people on our last visit we have had a redesign of the kiosk done, making it narrower and taller to reduce the impact it has and allowing full access to the harbour stores, we have also had the security verbal warning turned off at site so people walking by dont get shouted by the automated voice! we werent aware that was a built in feature of the security systems so sorry if that caused any problems. I will be visiting site next week and talking to people who may be effected by works, in the meantime feel free to speak to our site staff who are friendly and only too happy to chat or send us a comment on here. Thanks for bearing with us, Brian

Hello everyone

We are packing up the site tomorrow (Wednesday) and leaving the harbour until the new kiosk is ready and we can return to finish the project in the New Year. This will probably be early February, I will keep you all updated on this. We are aware that the automated voice on the site security system has caused some concern with people feeling it is a bit over the top. Although security is important for us we will be working with our security provider to adjust it when we return in the New Year so it doesnt cause annoyance. Thank you to the residents who brought this to our attention. Thank you also for your patience and support over this stage of the project. We look forward to seeing you next year and would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year

Update by Brian Hall

Hello everyone

The work is progressing well however the kiosk (pictured below) is showing its age, we did think we could refurbish it and carry on but it is not fit for purpose and needs completely replacing. We are going to have to get another one made and this will affect our schedule, in order to minimize disruption we are going to pack up site next week and stay off over Christmas. We will return in the new year to complete the work. We are sorry that this extends our schedule but it needs doing right. I will be on site next week and will be able to update you on when we are doing the next part of the work. Hope you all have a good weekend, try and stay out of the cold!

all the best, Brian
