GENERAL PROJECT

Sedgefield Sewage Treatment Works

At Northumbrian Water, looking after the environment is one of our top priorities. As part of this commitment, we are working with our supply partner, Galliford Try Construction, to undertake upgrade work at Sedgefield sewage treatment works (STW) to improve the performance of our wastewater treatment. This essential work will help to improve water quality and ensure that the treatment facility continues to serve the community effectively.

Hello

I’d like to introduce the team from Galliford Try that will be completing the work at Sedgefield on behalf of Northumbria Water. My name is Jane Cooper, and I am the Customer Experience Coordinator for Galliford Try. Our Site Manager is Melvyn Ellwood and our Project Manager is John Goose.

The work is starting on Monday 5th February 2024, and we expect to be on site for 8 months. Should there be any changes date wise to programme then we will provide updates on here. While we don't expect significant disruption to residents nearby, there may be a noticeable increase in construction traffic accessing the site off the dual carriageway. The public right of way to the site will be closed with a signed diversion in place for the duration of the works.

I’ll keep you updated with progress on this project portal, but if you have any questions, you can either quickly create an account to comment on any activity updates on this page, or alternatively, use the ‘Contact’ button at the top of the page, whichever way is best for you.

Good morning and apologies, we've not updated the portal for a quite a while now.

We wrote to customers back in October to confirm that we have now secured business approval for the upgrade works and are progressing with the detailed design.  We plan to start construction work in February 2024 and expect the upgrade works to take up to 8 months to complete. Now that we are preparing to move into the construction phase, we'll make sure to kee pthe portal updated regularly so you can see how we are getting on.

Again, don't hesistate to contact us either via the 'Contact Us' tab above or comment on this post and we'll get back to you.

Thanks
