GENERAL PROJECT

Sherburn Upgrade

Starting in 2022, as part of a £12.9 million scheme, we will be carrying out essential work to improve the performance and flexibility of our wastewater network and wastewater treatment works in the Pittington and Sherburn areas of County Durham. The scheme will help to improve the water quality of the Coalford and Sherburn Becks, as well as the watercourses downstream. We are yet to confirm an exact date when the works will commence, however once we do we will contact you to ensure you’re kept informed and made aware of any possible disruption.

Update by Dean Thompson

Hi everyone,

I'm Dean Thompson and I'm Northumbrian Water's Project Manager for the work we are planning to carry out in your area. Along with the rest of the project team we will be keeping you updated as the project progresses.

You will have recently received a letter explaining about the work we plan to undertake to improve the performance and flexibility of our wastewater network and treatment works in the Pittington and Sherburn areas of County Durham. This scheme will help to improve the water quality of Coalford and Sherburn Becks as well as the watercourses downstream.

This will involve the replacement of the wastewater treatment works at Pittington with a pumping station. The pumping station will transfer treatment to our Sherburn site. To facilitate this, our Sherburn site will be upgraded to accommodate this.

We’d really like to hear your views on this essential work and how we can work with you to minimise any disruption you and your community may experience. I’ll shortly be adding plans which show where we are planning to carry out. If you have any queries or comments or would like to speak to someone from the project team please get in touch using the ‘Contact us’ button at the top of the page. We’d really like to hear from you.
