GENERAL PROJECT

Sherburn Upgrade

Starting in 2022, as part of a £12.9 million scheme, we will be carrying out essential work to improve the performance and flexibility of our wastewater network and wastewater treatment works in the Pittington and Sherburn areas of County Durham. The scheme will help to improve the water quality of the Coalford and Sherburn Becks, as well as the watercourses downstream. We are yet to confirm an exact date when the works will commence, however once we do we will contact you to ensure you’re kept informed and made aware of any possible disruption.

Update by Gabrielle Ward

Hello!

Since there is currently no construction work happening at Pittington at the moment, this update is focused on Sherburn STW!

Following on from our previous update, the Chemical Dosing Kiosks have now been installed which are shown in the photos below. The team have also completed the footpath and hardstanding areas around the kiosks.
We previously mentioned the preparation works were ongoing ready for the new Motor Control Centre kiosk installation which has been carried out by our subcontractors, Armah.
The team have water drop tested the new NSAF tanks successfully and poured the concrete floors inside the tanks (as photo). De Nora are on site installing filter stone media and pipework ready for service.
The duct installation is now complete, with the final duct network within tertiary treatment area progressed allowing electrical connection link to be made with NSAF, Mecana and Backwash Tank equipment.

As a thank you to the residents of Sherburn, NWG and MMB have donated a new information board on the history of coal mining in Sherburn. This has been installed next to the memorial tub and bench in the village. If you haven't been down there already, it's definatley worth a visit!

As always, please feel free to leave a comment below should you have any questions and a member of the project team will get back to you!

Speak soon!
