GENERAL PROJECT

Sherburn Upgrade

Starting in 2022, as part of a £12.9 million scheme, we will be carrying out essential work to improve the performance and flexibility of our wastewater network and wastewater treatment works in the Pittington and Sherburn areas of County Durham. The scheme will help to improve the water quality of the Coalford and Sherburn Becks, as well as the watercourses downstream. We are yet to confirm an exact date when the works will commence, however once we do we will contact you to ensure you’re kept informed and made aware of any possible disruption.

Update by Bethany Oakley

Good afternoon,

I hope you are well and having a great week so far!

I'd firstly like to introduce myself, my name is Bethany Oakley and I am a Customer Liaison Officer for JN Bentley. Going forward, I will be taking on Sherburn and Pittington works and will therefore be keeping you up to speed with the works and providing updates on the Customer Portal.

The works are continuing at both our Sherburn and Pittington Sewage Treatment Works (STW) sites as planned.

The existing works at Pittington STW will remain in place for a period of time whilst testing and durability of the new installation is assessed. Once completed we will be looking to carry out decommissioning and demolition works across the site. In the meantime, we are currently reinstating the existing field at the site entrance so that we can hand it back to the landowner.

At Sherburn STW, we are continuing with reinstatement works across site, although the recent weather is definitely not helping us. Footpaths and hardstanding areas are currently in construction and will bring the project to a close on their completion. Some fine tuning is being undertaking on the recently installed equipment across site in order to optimise the processing of incoming effluent.

As always, please leave a comment below should you have any questions, and a member of the project team will get back to you.

Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation.

Bethany
