Update by Sarah Jayne Parvin
We’re pleased to inform you that the Peareth Hall Road and footpath closure's will be removed by the end of the school day today, Friday 13th September. Both footpaths will be available however we need to lay the final tarmac topping on each section, we will be completing this work on Saturday 14th September. One footpath will remain open while the other is worked on, then we’ll swap over.
We will need to revisit the area in Spring 2025 to carry out the permanent tarmac topping 15 metres either side of the pipe trench as required by Sunderland City Council. This will be done under temporary two-way traffic lights, the footpaths will remain open, so pedestrians won’t be affected. We will advise closer to the date when these works are to be undertaken.
Over at Eighton Banks, you may notice little activity at the moment. We are preparing to test the pipe laid between the west side of the reservoir and Galloping Green Road. Testing is scheduled for the end of next week, with reinstatement work to follow, aiming for completion in early November. The main pipe connection outside the Waggon Inn pub is planned for early 2025 and will take around 8 weeks. We recognise the work has taken longer than expected and want to give the area a break in the lead-up to Christmas.
At Mount Lane, work on the reservoir continues. The eastern compartment is nearing completion, and the western compartment is about 60% finished. Backfilling at the north of the reservoir site is underway, compacting the material may cause some localised vibration in the surrounding area.
Please also note that work will take place over the next two Saturdays, focused on steel fixing on the roof. The noise will be minimal as no heavy plant movement is required. Additionally, our next roof concrete pours are scheduled for 16th and 23rd September these will be carried out during normal working hours. A concrete floor pour is expected on the 25th September which will require power floating into the early hours
Thank you for your continued patience and support as we complete this work.
Thanks
Sarah
