Project updates

Update by Jodie Pickering

Hi Everyone,

This week we have been preparing a slab for a large dosing kiosk that will be delivered to site soon. I have attached some photographs of this below. When the kiosk arrives and in place I will take some more photographs and update you further.

I hope everyone has a good bank holiday weekend.

Good Morning,

This week at Warkworth we have been moving some large dosing kiosks into place. You may have noticed the presence of a crane which we used to carry out this operation. The kiosks were assembled off-site which allowed us to reduce the number of contractors and vehicles coming to the water treatment works and avoid disruption to the local surrounding area. I have attached a photograph of one of the kiosks.

We thank you again for your cooperation.

Afternoon All,

Another quick update from Warkworth. As you may have noticed recently, the amount of deliveries coming to site and our presence in the village has increased slightly and we thank you for your cooperation with this. We are making good progress with our scheduled works.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable bank holiday weekend.

Hi Everyone,

Another short update on our progress at Warkworth WTW. We were busy last week completing a manhole chamber that will be used by the Environment Agency to access and sample water that is discharged from the treatment works into the nearby watercourse. We have been working to our programme and are making good progress with all of our planned activities.

I will be back to update you further shortly and again, if you have any queries then please don't hesitate to get in touch!

Many thanks,

Jodie

Morning All, just a quick update as to what we have been getting up to recently here at Warkworth.

We have been busy installing bird boxes around the treatment works to provide homes for Swallows (photographs below)

Also, as promised I have included a photograph of myself as it's good to put a face to a name.

If you have any queries, please don't hesitate to get in touch with either myself or Joan. We will be happy to help!

Update by Joan Tatters

Good Afternoon

I just thought I'd touch base with you regarding our work on site at the treatment works. By now you will have noticed a little more vehicle activity through the village so thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. We have been removing and transporting a large tank off site today as we are making space for a new kiosk. Although the transporter is not classed as a "wide load" it is rather bulky, so please be that little more vigilant if you are out and about, once again we have been very specific in the timing of its removal to minimise any disruption. The installation of the kiosk is part of the upgrade programme, it will be lowered into place in one piece via a large crane. Watch this space for some photos.

In the meanwhile Peter has sent me some photos, have a look at our site and some of the work we are doing.

Warkworth is truly a lovely part of Northumberland.

Oh my.........lets start as we mean to carry on, here is your first blog....

Peter has just informed me you will see him posting signage around the village at Warworth today and Monday (please say hello to him, he loves talking!) These signs will direct the delivery drivers to the site ensuring the correct route. There will be some extra vehicle activity (so please be that little more vigilant) Monday and the deliveries will be from 8am. To reduce the customer impact they will be taking an alternative route to site which should not intrude on the school run and indeed your journeys to work.

Please get in touch with us should you have any questions you need answering we will be happy to help.

Update by Glyn Jenkins

Hi everyone

I'm Glyn Jenkins  one of  the Project Managers for the Warkworth Water Treatment Works Upgrade project. The upgraded treatment works will increase the resilience of Warkworth WTW improving the reliability of the treatment process and the ability to support our network that supplies clean, clear drinking water.

Our experienced partner, Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB), plan to carry out work to upgrade our water treatment equipment and site security which will begin in January 2017 and will take place over the following 24 months

This work will include:

  • Installing new fencing and CCTV equipment.
  • Upgrading water treatment equipment.
  • The installation of new screens in the intake which serves the treatment works.

Although all of the work we are carrying out will be within our site, you may notice additional traffic in the area. When completed, part of the new fence will be visible from the nearby area.

The existing treatment works will remain fully operational while we upgrade the site and there won’t be any impact on the water service we provide to customers as a result of this work.

At the moment, we don’t have any further information to share but if you have any queries or want to make us aware of any additional assistance you require from us during this work then please use the ‘Contact us’ botton at the top of this page
