GENERAL PROJECT

Washington Sewage Treatment Works Refurbishment

As part of a £14 million investment, we will be carrying out work to improve the performance and reliability of Washington Sewage Treatment Works. This work will ensure it continues to provide the highest standards of service for the local community.

Update by Sarah Jayne Parvin

Good afternoon All, we would like to give you an update with our ongoing work at Washington STW. On Wednesday 5th August we will be starting to use a mobile concrete crusher for up to 4 days, to recycle 900 tons of concrete from our demolition work onsite. Once this material has been crushed this will be used as subbase for our foundations on various infrastructures on the project.

If we were to export this material from site it would take approximately 45 wagon journeys traveling on average of 17 miles each way, by cutting out these wagon journeys it reduces our carbon footprint by approximately 4195kg of CO2 emissions.

I have included a picture of the crusher that we will be using onsite.

Thanks

Sarah
