Update by Gabrielle Ward
Good afternoon,
I'm pleased to be able to confirm that we've substantially completed our sewage treatment works refurbishment at Washington STW. The upgrade work included the construction of the following to improve the performance and reliability of the sewage treatment works to ensure it continues to provide the highest standards of service:
- new inlet works including screening and flow control / recording
- increased final settlement treatment on site by constructing three new final settlement tanks increasing the final capacity to 7 FST’s in total.
- Full electrical upgrade including MCC panels and kiosks, and a new SCADA computer control system
- Construction of new sludge pumping station and returns pipework
- Construction of Northumbrian Water network services yard
- Installation of flow control systems around site
While we have completed all construction work and commissioned the new treatment processes, there are still some minor reinstatements to be carried out.
I have included drone footage taken in July 2022 where you get a bird’s eye view of the STW now the construction work is complete.
On behalf of the Project Team, we would like to thank you for your patience throughout the duration of our work.
