In order to maintain the safe operation of West Hallington reservoir there are works required to ensure the continued resilience of the asset in order to be compliant with the requirements of the Reservoir Act. In order to do this, it is necessary to carry out works to improve the drawdown capacity of the reservoir which will require construction activity from May 2022 until the end of July 2023. This will result in restrictions to access around the reservoir crest and an increase in construction traffic during this period.

Following a review of the potential impact of the drawdown on water supply it has been decided to delay the start of the construction work until Spring 2023. Although the project is delayed we are working hard to ensure that the proposed solution to upgrade the reservoir will be delivered in a timely manner.
In the meantime seprate work will be carried out this Autumn to carry out maintenance activity on a seperate part of the reservoir.
