Whittingham Sewage Treatment Works Upgrade

We are investing £500k to improve the performance of our sewage treatment works at Whittingham. The work will involve an upgrade of the storm water storage provision. This will aid NWL in improving the quality of rivers and coastal waters for the benefit of people, the environment and wildlife.

Good afternoon,

I hope everyone is well!

The end is now in sight as the tank is now fully functional without the use of additional pumps. Paving is due to be completed around the tank before we can remove the compound and carry out general reinstatement works.

Good morning all,

Hope everyone is well!

As you may have seen works within the area have been progressing and the crew have completed the compound area and continue with the excavation for the new storm overflow tank.

Although the team have experienced ground water ingress, this has been easily managed with the right equipment. Next week the team will be starting the reinforcement to the base of the tank.

Thank you for your time. Please contact us direct if you have any questions at nwl.customer@esh.uk.com.

Update by Rachel Rutter

Good afternoon,

Id like to take this opertunity to indroduce myself, my name is Rachel Rutter and I am the Customer Liasion working for Esh Stantec on behalf of Northumbrian Water. Some of you may have seen myself and my colleague Annah out on-site last week providing residents with an update for works to upgrade the sewer network.

The upgrade will increase capacity at the works, reducing the risk of pollution, and ensure this essential site continues to provide an effective treatment service for your home and the wider area.

All the work will take place within our site and will be undertaken by Esh Stantec. Although we do not anticipate any disruption for you, we just wanted to let you know that you may notice increased activity and more vehicles using the access route through the village, as well as a little more noise from the site.

The work will begin next month and will be limited to Monday to Friday, 8 am to 6 pm. We expect to complete our upgrade by the end of July 2024.

We will keep you informed as the work progresses.

If you have any questions or concerns, please comment on this post or email us on nwl.customer@esh.uk.com

Thank you

Rachel
