WINEP Bellingham Storm Tank

We are investing £2M to improve the performance of our sewage treatment works at Bellingham. The work will involve an upgrade of the storm water storage provision. This will aid NWL in improving the quality of rivers and coastal waters for the benefit of people, the environment and wildlife.

Good morning all,

We wanted to take this opportunity to wish all our customers a Merry Christmas and all the very best for 2025.  We would also like to thank you all for your patience and understanding whilst we have carried out our works.

The site teams are taking time off to be with their loved ones over the Christmas and New Year period and will be finishing on Friday 20 December 2024 to return to work on Monday 6 January 2025.

Good afternoon

ESH Stantec working with Active are currently onsite setting up to start sinking the shaft next week within the Sewerage Treatment Works. A satellite compound is set-up for off loading of articulated wagons. The team will keep distruption to a minimum and thank you for your patience during these times.

Good morning

The team have established a temporary site compound within the treatment works until the remote compound can be set-up in the New Year.

The small access road to the treatment works has been widened after received further permission.

Topsoil strip within the treatment works has been completed ready for work to start on the sinking of the shaft.

Stockproof fencing will begin to be installed on Friday 28 November 2024.

Good afternoon,

We just want to take a minute to introduce ourselves to you all, we work for the contract partner, Esh Stantec who will be delivering the work in this area. I had the pleassure to speak to many of you while I was in the area last week. For those I didnt manage to speak to, you will start to see Christine, Alice and I in the area more, please feel free to approach us and the crews and ask any questions.

As the letter mentions this essential work will help to protect and improve the water quality in the River North Tyne and ensure that the treatment facility in Bellingham remains resilient. Over the next couple of weeks to team will be setting up our compund area and bringing in essential materials and equipment.
