WINEP Durham Transfer

As part of an £10 million scheme, Northumbrian Water will be carrying out essential works to improve the performance and flexibility of our wastewater network and wastewater treatment works in the Plawsworth, Pity Me and Brasside areas of County Durham. The scheme will help to improve the water quality of the Blackdene Burn for the benefit of people, the environment and wildlife and ensure that critical wastewater assets continue to serve the community effectively.

Good morning,

This week the team have constructed the new flow meter chamber, including the drainage outlet pipework from the flow meter chamber to wet well. The rising main pipework has been installed and partial reinstatement complete.

The cover slab to wet well chamber has been installed and remedial works within are complete.

Within Northumbrian Water works the air valve and washout chambers are nearing completion including the gravity sewer pipework.

Lets hope we see more sunshine to allow the team to continue with reinstatments.

Good morning,

Within Northumbrian Water areas the new flow meter chamber construction is complete. The Rising main pipework has been installed and the drainage outlet pipework from the flow meter chamber to wet well chamber has been completed.

Reinstatement of topsoil is underway, and you may have seen is partially complete. ESH have also completed the removal of timber bog mats and a partial reinstatement of fields within the easement area. Topsoil remains to be stone-picked and rotavated prior to seeding works commencing. Remedial works to benching within the wet well chamber is ongoing.

Air valve and washout chambers are nearing completion, while waiting for a suitable weather window to reinstate fields and topsoil.

Over the next week you may see the team are working close to Chester Low Road while a new manhole is being constructed.

Good afternoon,

The drainage outlet pipework from the flow meter chamber to the wet well chamber is ongoing with the air valve and washout chambers nearing completion.

As mentioned in the last update the gravity sewer pipework is now installed to the west side of the main railway line with a haul road created from the public highway to achieve access for the manhole construction.

Gravity Sewer Pipework is now installed from Brasside STW to the Outfall Structure. The woodland area will be reinstated once weather conditions begin to improve.

The team this week have constructed the new flow meter chamber at Plawsworth Sewerage Treatment Works (STW) and wet well chamber within Pity me STW. The air valve and washout chambers are nearing completion from Plawsworth STW to Rotary Way.

The gravity sewer pipework is now installed to the west side of the main railway line with reinstatements to the fields being completed once weather conditions improve.

The concrete base and walls have been poured within the flow meter chamber at Plawsworth Sewerage Treatment Works.

Drainage works have begun at Pity Me Sewerage Treatment Works and the team are crossing fingers for suitable weather to reinstate the fields.

A haul road is completed on Chester Low Road to facilitate access, while reinstatement works to Brasside Sewerage Treatment Works are ongoing.

Within Plawsworth Sewerage Treatment Works the team have completed the wet well chamber and have excavated for the flow meter chamber. Reinstatement of fields will be undertaken when weather conditions are suitable including removal of timber bog mats and reinstate of field within easement area.

The air valve and discharge chamber are ready for construction and will begin in the next week, depending on weather conditions with the gravity sewer pipework now installed.

I hope everyone is enjoying the little bit of sun we are getting.

This week the team are working on the directional drilled pipework for the Rising Main, which is nearly complete. The construction of the air value and washout chambers are ongoing to the A167m easement.

New pipework has been installed from the discharge chamber to Brasside Sewerage Treatment Works and the team are now working on the West side of the railway line installing gravity pipework towards Chester Low Road.

The team have begun preparation at Plawsworth Sewerage Treatment Works for the installation of foul sewer pipework.

The Rising Main pipework and the Directional Drilled Pipework is partially complete.

Construction of the Air Value and Washout Chambers are ongoing along with the installation of a triple pipe in the single trench.

The Discharge Chamber to Brasside Sewerage Treatment Works has been installed, while work is ongoing on the gravity pipework towards Chester Low Road.

Drainage works within Plawsworth Sewerage Treatment Works are being completed for the installation of fouls sewer pipework with the wet well chamber installed.

Good morning all and a Happy New Year!

The directional drilled pipework for the Rising Main is complete and the crew continue to construct the air valve and washout chambers to the A167m easement.

Over the last few weeks, the team have installed 4.0meters diameter wet well chamber to Plawsworth Sewerage Treatment Works, cover slabs will be added at a later stage.

The crew continue to progress with work with some stages being completed in Spring 2024 due to design and weather conditions.
