Together with our supply partner, ESH-MWH, we have undertaken a detailed study of the sewer network to establish the cause of historical pollutions to the rear of Albert Hill Industrial Estate.
TOGETHER WITH OUR SUPPLY PARTNER, ESH-MWH, WE HAVE UNDERTAKEN A DETAILED STUDY OF THE SEWER NETWORK TO ESTABLISH THE CAUSE OF HISTORICAL POLLUTIONS TO THE REAR OF ALBERT HILL INDUSTRIAL ESTATE.
The Albert Hill sewer runs in close proximity to the river Skerne and at times of heavy rainfall it can present a risk of pollution to the river from a surcharging manhole. We have investigated a diversion of the sewer. One possible solution is to redirect flow to another system which has room to take flows during heavy storms. This would involve installing 350 metres of new sewer pipe to the rear of Devonshire Road on the south side of the River Skerne.
Our Project Manager, Ian Cunliffe has already engaged with the local authority, Darlington Borough Council and local groups who have an active interest in the area to establish their views on the potential solution.
We want to keep you informed about our investigations and work we are considering in this area. We would appreciate any feedback you have at this early stage.
We invest hundreds of millions of pounds every year to maintain and upgrade our water and sewer networks so we can make sure we provide you with a top quality product and safeguard our water and environment well into the future. Reducing the risk of pollution is one of our top priorities.
We recognise that, with construction work, noise and traffic disruption is difficult to avoid. Please be assured that we will do our best to reduce any inconvenience to you.
