GENERAL PROJECT

Aldbrough St John Sewage Treatment Works Upgrade

As part of the Water Industry National Environmental Programme (WINEP), we are investing £3.5 million to improve our treatment provision at Aldbrough sewage treatment works to improve the quality of effluent discharging to Aldbrough Beck and meet the demands of an increasing population in the wider catchment. The upgrade work will include the construction / installation of new inlet screens, primary settlement and storm treatment along with associated mechanical and electrical refurbishment. Our sewage treatment works aid NWL in improving the quality of rivers and coastal waters for the benefit of people, the environment and wildlife.

Good morning, everyone,

Following our previous update last month, I thought I'd jump on and give you a further update on the progression to the Aldbrough St John STW.

As always, the Team have been working hard and in doing so, the construction of the PST base has now been completed (photos below) and the contractor, Goodwins are lined up to install the PST – this will be carried out week commencing 2nd September.

The Team have also commenced work on the new storm pump plinths and access road along with starting to plan the first couple of pipe connections to the existing pipe work.

We are hoping to have all the supporting metal work in place for the Inlet works and MCC Kiosk by the end of next month.

I hope you all enjoy the rest of the week. If you have any questions you’d like to ask us regarding the work, please add a comment below and one of the Project Team will respond as soon as possible.

Thank you,

Bethany

Update by Sarah Jayne Parvin

The last few weeks has seen our team complete investigatory works on existing assets and remove abandoned underground structures. We’ve also had diversionary works of an overhead BT line carried out to enable safe excavation of ducting for new electrical feeds to the site. In the background the team have been working hard to deliver design drawings to the site team and the next few weeks should see the team complete civil works for the new kiosk as well as the commencement of excavations for a our new Primary Settlement Tank. Hopefully this is the start of some fine weather which will help the site team make some good progress.

If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment below, and a member of the project team will respond.

You can also reach out to the MMB Customer Team at MMBcustomerserviceteam@mottmac.com.
