Good afternoon everyone, work has progressed extremely well.

The vast majority of the work is now complete, we have approx. 15 meter of pipe left to lay behind Arndale House, the rest of the work will be to restore the working areas to how they were before our arrival in May.

We also will be replacing Guttering to the rear of properties at Arndale House starting  week commencing 2nd December, if your property is included in this you will have received a letter earlier this week.

Over the next week or so, the site cabins in Komatsu’s car park will be taken away and an all-in-one cabin will be placed in Harraton Terrace rear car park to allow us to restore Komatsu’s car park.

Earlier in the week, a small number of the project team spent the morning in The Hub painting, it was great fun! I have included a few pictures below. We also heard The Hub we having a Christmas Lights switch on and disco for the children, so we gave them some sweeties for the children to enjoy.

I have included a few pictures below. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

We would like to thank you for your patience, the end is within sight!

Good morning all, you may have seen our team out in force Thursday last week.

Several members of the project team swapped their laptops for tongs and bin bags. We collected 29 bags of litter, amongst the finds were clothes, a hoover, suitcase and a tenner!

The team really enjoyed the couple of hours litter picking and plan to do another litter pick in the coming months.

I have added some pictures below of our litter pick.

Thanks

Good morning, im up on site this morning, catching up on the progress made since my last post.

Work is progressing well and we are currently ahead on our programme. We have a team continuing work in the car park near the taxi rank, laying the pipe to connect to the new pipe we installed across Durham Road.

Preparation works to clear vegetation, trim back trees and bushes between St Johns Place and Arndale House have started ready for our team to lay a new surface water pipe. We are expecting the pipe laying to start mid to late October but will confirm this closer to the date.

Thanks

Hope you have all had a good bank holiday and enjoyed the wonderful weather!

Just a quick update from the site team, works in Birtley High Street and into the junction for Morrisons and Harraton Terrace are progressing well despite difficult ground conditions with concrete and old foundations hampering progress.

Works are also continuing to connect the diversion to the storage tank that has now been constructed in the Komatsu car park.

We thank you for your patience with the ongoing works and hope that the traffic management can be removed in 2 or 3 weeks.

Good morning all, the project team have been together this morning discussing the progress so far. As you can see in the highway things are progressing very well, and we are currently digging down approx 1.8m to construct a man hole. Once that's complete we will then be digging back to the current manhole to lay the new pipework over the coming weeks.

Komatsu are on close down for 'Factory Fortnight' which is allowing our construction vehicles to access the workspace within their car park, where we are putting the storage pipes, without using the public car park access. We have made a decision to work over the weekend while we have this opportunity to use this for of access.

I have added some photos below for you to take a look at of our works so far.

Any question please don't hesitate to contact us.

Thanks

Sarah

Hello everybody,

My name is Elsie Nanunga and I am an undergraduate at Teesside University studying Civil Engineering. Today I visited the Arndale House project at Birtley. The team was very welcoming and helpful as they tried to bring me up to speed with whatever they had done and what they planned to do and took me around. I saw the large pipes meant for storage being put in and the part of the Komatu car park that was ready to be tarmaced. I also went up to the junction were preparations were being made to start manhole construction. The traffic was being manned to try and avoid build up which was really good. Generally the works look to be going smoothly.

Upgrade of the sewer network in Birtley

As you will be aware works to upgrade the sewer network in Birtley are now underway.  We have started works in one of Komatsu’s car parks and over the coming months this will progress into the council car park at the back of Harraton Terrace.  The new section of sewer needs to be linked to the main sewer in the A167 at the junction of Durham Road and Harraton Terrace.

Gateshead Council have asked that we carry out the works in the A167 in the school holidays to minimise disruption to the local area.  These works will start on 22 July 2019 with completion planned by 7 September 2019.  During this time the permanent traffic lights will be suspended and temporary three way lights will be used to facilitate the works that are required.  The traffic lights will be manned in order to ensure that any delays are kept to minimum but there may be some delay at peak times.  The plan below shows some of the work tyo be carried out.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any delay experienced during this time.

If you have any questions please dont hesitate to contact us.
