GENERAL PROJECT

Bense Bridge Sewer restoration

We are carrying out works to the existing pumping station to enhance performance. The works will consist of refurbishment work to repair an existing asset that has deteriorated. This is essential work to reduce the risk of flooding from the upstream network. This investment will increase resilience and enhance the service we provide to our customers

Update by David Mortemore

The refurbished pump went back into the pumping station on the 11th Feb. Once in, we had a week or so of well cleaning whilst we had low flows. More recently we have experienced periods of rainfall which has seen the pump perform in line with expectations. As such there has been no flooding form the upstream network. Therefore we will now look to remove the temporary road to the pumping station and return the land to its original condition. We will carry out some minor additional works within the pump house in the near future but this will have no impact on performance.

In terms future investment, a solution has been costed and this will is now will the Tactical flooding team for consideration. They will determine the priority of such a proposal against the assessment criteria for capital investment.
