GENERAL PROJECT

Bense Bridge Sewer restoration

We are carrying out works to the existing pumping station to enhance performance. The works will consist of refurbishment work to repair an existing asset that has deteriorated. This is essential work to reduce the risk of flooding from the upstream network. This investment will increase resilience and enhance the service we provide to our customers

Planned Work

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves. The primary contacts for this work will be led by John Rose - Works Treatment Manager and Shane Donaghy - Wastewater Networks Team Leader. The scheme will be delivered by Northumbrian Water’s delivery partner Esh supported by Selwoods.

Starting January 2025 we will be carrying out construction works at our pumping station located at Bense Bridge to the South of Stokesley. Unfortunately we have experienced a loss in service at this location. This is a critical asset during storm periods as it ensures surface water can still discharge to the local watercourse when river levels are high.

We have implemented a mitigation plan to manage flows during storm periods as a temporary measure. This plan will remain in place until a permanent solutions has been completed. Following some feedback from residents highlighting concerns, we are introducing additional monitoring to make this a more robust plan. We will see the introduction of an alert system providing early warning should additional resource be required on site.

Initially we will investigate the condition of the asset and this will determine the course of action we take going forward.

As the project develops we will keep you informed about our plans and progress by sharing our proposals with you on this portal. The team will post regular updates throughout the project and if you have any queries or want to make us aware of any additional assistance you require from us then please use the ‘Contact us’ button at the top of this page or post on this feed.
