Project updates

Update by Colin Butler

Good Morning,

A quick progress update on our works at Castle Eden:

The microtunnelling works are now completed and we have approximately 336m of concrete pipes in the ground from a depth of 7m to 17m. All that remains for us to do in terms of pipework is a short drive of 38m at 17m depth which will be done by hand out into a new outfall in the dene. We have began the process of stripping out all the tunnelling equipment and you will notice over the coming week that this will begin to leave site. We expect wagons from Monday Afternoon through to Friday as we demobilise this equipment.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support and patience as we hit the home straight. As always, any queries or questions are welcomed and should be directed at either myself or our customer liasion officer, Joan Tatters who I'm sure you're all familiar with.

Thanks again,

Colin

Hello Everyone,

Well I would just like to say as much as we didn't want to do it for so many reasons, the night shift working has duly paid off.........we have tunnelled through to manhole 4 with success. This means the mirco tunnelling is now back on track and to time so much so we anticipate no more weekend or night shift working!!!

Apologies for any further undue inconvenience to your all; we truly appreciate your co-operation.

I have attached some photos so you can see what it is we have been doing.............

Good Morning

Unfortunately, whilst working Saturday morning we came across some technical issues during the under ground tunnelling. After speaking to our specialist team it was decided we couldn't do anything else but to work through the night to ensure the pipe kept moving, we simply didn't have an option to continue tunnelling under the circumstances.

It was literally became a "all hands on deck" scenario, an extra night shift team were drafted in, the site team shifts were increased and Jason (our Contracts Manager), Jenson (his 5 year old son who did a sterling job) and I did door knocking to inform residents of the situation.

We have always tried to keep disruption to a minimum so please be assured our decision to work through the night wasn't taken lightly, in fact it was the last thing we wanted to do.

I would just like to take this opportunity to thank the residents of Castle Eden, predominantly those who reside in Mitford Court , Luke Court and Carrock Close for your understanding and co-operation, we truly appreciate your support during these essential works.

Good Afternoon Everyone

Hope you are enjoying this lovely Spring like weather!!!

Just to let you know we will be working this weekend again..........Saturday and Sunday I'm afraid.

As previous weekends we will not be expecting any deliveries and whilst you will notice us the noise should be no more than what you are currently experiencing.

Have a great weekend everyone and don't forget to put your clocks forward Saturday night.

Good morning folks, thought I'd update you all on the progress at Castle Eden Dene.

Our 1200mmØ pipeline arrived bang on programme at Castle Eden Dene. To date, we've installed two 6mØ segmental shafts to depths of 19m and 17m. We will be installing an approximate total of 370m of drainage to replace the existing asset which is in a precarious state of disrepair. The new pipeline has been designed to cope with storm conditions surpassing One Thousand litres per second. This was the first Micro-tunnelled line of 153m and arrived (thankfully!) within our 6m x 5m x7m sheeted reception pit. Big credit must go to our MMB engineer Tomas Meynell who managed to get it within 50mm line and level!

We have now re-orientated the equipment and are approximately 40m into a 180m drive down stream!

If there's any questions, queries or otherwise, please feel free to contact me at Colin.Butler@mm-b.co.uk.

Thank you for your patience

Colin

Good Afternoon,

Due to unexpected ground conditions we are going to need to keep our tunnelling equipment moving over the weekend. The work will be between 0800 and 1700hrs both Saturday and Sunday and it will be confined to the site. There will be no wagons entering or leaving the site, however you may notice the noise from the equipment; rest assured we will keep this to a minimum.

Both Jason and I will be conducting some residents door knocking this afternoon just to let you know personally the situation. Come and talk to us if you have any queries.

Good Afternoon

We have commenced the tunnelling down the massive shafts, actually 13metres down and have begun to fit the huge pipes underground, they weigh 3tonnes each and there are 61 of them to install. Its hard to miss the huge machines on site at the minute they are taking away the waste we are removing from underground and the cranes are doing an incredable job lifting those huge pipes...their presence will be continual for some time. Colin and his team have promised me some photos tomorrow, so I will post them so you can see for yourself the scale of the work we are doing. Oh, we are looking to have another drone survey done in due course, so again I'll post that.

Hello,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the residents near the Dene for their patience during our work, I understand it has been disruptive at times and you have been most accommodating.

Our site will be closing for the festive holidays from 23rd December and we will return 5th January 2017, I am sure you will welcome a break from our activities. The site security arrangement will remain the same during this time with the added bonus of the new temporary fencing around the perimeter.

It remains for me to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I will be back posting progress on the scheme at the turn of the year so in the meanwhile.............

"MERRY CHRISTMAS!!"

Good Morning

Whilst on site on Friday I had the experience of watching the huge crane being removed from the compound, believe you me it was a precision and military operation.

The team were also in the process of erecting some new fencing around the perimeter of the site.............don't worry it is a temporary measure for the duration of the work.

It will provide additional security and hopefully reduce some site noise, we will remove the timber hoarding at the end of the project and reinstate the smaller rail fence so your views will be back to normal then.

Don't forget we would really like to hear from you should you have any questions.

Thanks again for your patience.
