Heworth Burn

Working closely with Gateshead council, we are looking to invest up to £4 million to upgrade our sewers and highway drainage in the Heworth area.

Update by Sarah Jayne Parvin

Good afternoon, it’s been a few weeks since Lewis last gave you an update of the project. In fact, since the last update I was one of 57,000 runners who pounded the pavements running 13.1 miles taking part in the Great North Run! Heworth was packed with people cheering the runners on, what an atmosphere and thank you!

Were happy to say the work on the Discharge chamber is now complete, the team have also now constructed 350 metres of the gravity sewer working well around several services, with a remaining 50 meters to go through the long stay car park until the connection to the discharge chamber can be made.

Work in the swan pub car park, Sunderland road, has now started where we will be constructing a 2.4m diameter underground overflow chamber onto the existing sewer network.

We would like to thank you for you continued patience and understanding during these works.

As always, any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

Thanks

Sarahjayne
