Heworth Burn

Working closely with Gateshead council, we are looking to invest up to £4 million to upgrade our sewers and highway drainage in the Heworth area.

Update by Paul Davison

Great news, the vast majority of construction work is now complete at Heworth!

We’ve completed reinstatement work both in the Long Stay car park and The Swan car park and these are both now fully available for parking.

The main compound and cabins have been removed and we are currently completing soft landscaping, operating out of a small all in one cabin near the site entrance off Low Heworth Lane. We expect to be complete and fully reinstated by the 7 February at the latest which will include the reinstatement and re-opening of the footpath that links Low Heworth Lane with the Long Stay car park.

While the vast majority of construction work is complete, we will still need to return for up to two weeks in early March to commission the new pumping station once the new power supply is fully installed.

This work is scheduled to re-start on 27 February (Northern Power Grid’s subcontractor) and will require a temporary footpath closure on Shields Road to install the last section of power cable. A Footpath diversion will be in place via Heworth Metro Station and sub-way.

Many thanks for you patience and understanding during the construction phase, it’s greatly appreciated.
