Following on from last week the team continue with the pipeline from the shaft to the Mecana filter units. The portal wall extension works to the final effluent chamber has commenced, with the flow meter chamber and by-pass arrangement works continuing.

As mentioned previously the team have been waiting on the Mecana filter tank to arrive, I’m pleased to say this is now in place and fitted.

The pipelines are continuing to be constructed from the newly installed shaft to the filters and we have been working closely with Durham County Council and others involved and have reinstated the area within Stanley Ancient Woodlands.

The team have now got the Mecana filter base in place and ready to accept the Mecana filter tank which will be delivered Tuesday 2 April 2024.

Connection works taking place outside of the working area will be completed this week and security palisade fence-line reinstated.

The pumping station wet well is now installed and benching in the base has been completed and ready for mechanical electrical & pumps to be installed.

Inter-connecting pipework around site continues ahead of programme.

The team have started the wet well shaft and have achieved the formation.

The rising main pipework is ongoing, and the work is progressing within the schedule.

Works have started on the pipeline and chambers and the new location of the Mecana Filter Slab has been proposed.

The team have paused works on the pipeline, to allow excavation works to commence. Which will include a concrete base slab to support the Mecana base unit.

As works progress you may see an increase in vehicle activity, but we will keep disruption to a minimum.

Good morning all and a Happy New Year!

You may have seen myself and my colleague Annah in the area this week, speaking to residents regarding the ongoing work in the area. If you see us next time pop over and have a chat.

The team have now completed the main compound and the concrete protection slab is in place across known services to allow wagons to enter site safely and to make sure there are no distruptions in the area. A land drain and soakaway has been installed in the verge area to assist in flood prevention whilst constructing our works.

Since returning back to work after christmas the crew continue to lay the new pipework (lets hope their wrapping up warm in this weather).

Good morning

Hope everyone is keeping warm and dry after the bad weather.

As you may have seen ESH and their contractor Stuart Marley, have undertaken maintenance works along the overgrown access track, leading to the Sewerage Treatment Works. Tree branches were lifted along the route to facilitate construction vehicles and delivery access without causing damage.

All works undertaken were witnessed by an Ecologist employed by Northumbrian Water with a specific brief regarding bats and their habitats.

Hope you are well?

I wanted to give you an update as to how we are progressing with the survey work at the site.

We have completed topographical and GPR surveys of Hustledown STW which, when we receive the results, we will be able to use to model the existing works and to aide our design.

The Ground Investigation (GI) survey was completed last week. This involved digging a series of boreholes and trial pits as well as taking samples to be assessed at the laboratory allow us to understand the ground conditions at the treatment works. I have attached a photo below.
