The construction phase of this project is now complete.

We are investing £4m to improve the performance of our sewage treatment works at Hustledown. The work will involve the installation of new equipment which will provide additional chemical removal before the final effluent is discharged. This will aid NWL in improving the quality of rivers and coastal waters for the benefit of people, the environment and wildlife.
We will be installing some new equipment within the boundary of the sewage treatment works. This new equipment, once operational, will help to improve the performance of the sewage treatment works by providing additional chemical removal before the final effluent is discharged from the works. In order to access the sewage treatment works, construction traffic will be using the access road (Durham Road) through South Stanley Woods and this may result in this access road being closed for short intervals to ensure the safety of the public.
