Marden Quarry

We are investing £2.5 million to separate Marden Quarry and other sources of surface water from the public sewer network. This will improve the performance of our sewer network and help reduce the risk of flooding. This project is the second and final phase of work being carried out in North Cullercoats.

Traffic information

Our interactive map below shows where and when we'll be working in the highway and what impact this may have on road users.

Whitehouse Way/Swan Road - 3-way Traffic Lights

As works are progressing in this area we will have to employ 3-way lights on Whitehouse Way and Swan Road. At first, both North and South lanes on Whitehouse Way will be open. We will do this as long as possible. As we approach the actual junction we will have to reduce Whitehouse Way down to one lane under the traffic light control.

We will then cross Whitehouse Way essentially in 2 halves, transferring traffic over to the opposite lane once we have the new main installed as far as the central white line.

We will do our utmost to reduce disruption where possible. The traffic lights will be manually operated during periods of heavy traffic. We expect Whitehouse Way to be reduced to one lane for a period of approximately 1 week. However, we will hopefully be into the Western verge sooner all being well.

Many thanks for your patience once again.

Alan.
