River Gaunless, Bishop Auckland

We are investing up to £9 million to improve Butterknowle, Cockfield and Ramshaw sewage treatment works. Starting in December 2018 and likely to continue to December 2019. These works will improve the quality of the water in the River Gaunless and will not involve any disruption to the wastewater service in the area. We would really like to hear any comments or questions you may have get in touch using the 'Contact us' button at the top of the page or leave a comment below. Dean Thompson NWL project manager

Planned work

Please find to the right links to the drawings that have been submitted for planning purposes. The planning applications only cover the kiosks that are to be installed at the sites, as the remainder of the works are deemed as permitted development i.e. they don't require planning permission. A photo of a typical medium sized kiosk has been provided for reference. In addition to this a photo of a typical medium sized chemical dosing tank and tertiary treatment plant have also been provided for reference.
