Project updates

Update by Gabrielle Ward

Hobson Industrial Estate

Hello,

MMB (Mott MacDonald Bentley) and Pipetek are currently carrying out essential work to the sewer network at Hobson Industrial Estate.

We arrived on site on Monday 31st January, since then we have carried out our enabling works prior to the work commencing. We have repaired and lined a section of the sewer line (please see the photos below). The lining work invovles a sleeve being pulled through the sewer pipe, and then set into place using a blue light system which repairs any fractures found in the pipe line.

We still have another three excavations to carry out before we can complete further lining work to the sewer.

We anticipate the work to take up to six weeks to complete. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause however, we would like to reassure you that all disruption will be kept to a minimum.

If you require any assistance, our site team will be more than happy to help.

Thanks,

Gaby

Durham Riverside Footpath

Good Morning,

Just a quick update on the progress of our work so far.

Last week involved setting up our site where the work will be taking place, along with completing the build of the scaffolding. We will use the scaffolding to access manholes safely which are located on the harder to reach places on the embankment side. We also made a start on installing the liner to a section of the pipeline.

This week entails completing more liner installations. I have attached a photo below which shows you what the liner looks like.

I would like to thank you for your continued patience and support during this essential work.

Stay safe everyone!

Durham Riverside Footpath

Good Morning,

If you've been for a walk along the beautiful riverside footpath which runs parallel to North and South Bailey you may have seen some of our notices regarding a footpath closure starting next week. I just wanted to post some information on the work we will be carrying out, and let you know more about the closure.

As of next week, Mott Macdonald Bentley and Pipetek will be making a start on carrying out liner installations to the sewererage network on behalf of Northumbrian Water. This will involve a closure to the footpath along the riverside from Wednesday 4th November for two weeks, however, this route will be accessible on weekends. Access will also still be maintained to Hatfield College Boat Club using the path which leads from Hatfield College, down to the river. You can find a screen shot attached below which shows you where the closure will be located.

We will also have a vactor (a large vacuum tanker) parked underneath Elvet Bridge located in the courtyard adjacent to The Boathouse Bar. We will try and keep any disruption to an absolute minimum during this time.

We plan on being in the area for around three weeks, so if you do see us and would like to ask any questions or to just pop and say hello, please feel free to do so. We just kindly ask that you keep a safe two metre distance from our site team, who are also following government guidelines.

I will be posting updates throughout the duration of the work. In the mean time, if you have any questions please leave a comment below and we will be happy to help.

Have a lovely weekend, and stay safe!

Hawthorn

I just wanted to post a quick update regarding the work we (MMB) have been carrying out over the past two weeks in Hawthorn.

The good news is, we have finished this part of our work along the road towards Hawthorn Nature Reserve and the road closure will be removed today.

The work has run very smoothly, even though the weather wasn't completely on our side, we managed to get most of the liners installed to the sewer network. We will need to return in the future to complete the final stretch of pipe and will notify you closer to the time.

If you have any further questions, please post a comment below or visit the "contact" button at the top of the page.

We would like to thank you for your continued patience and co-operation.

Have a lovely weekend, and stay safe everyone!
