Project updates

Update by Joan Tatters

Good Afternoon,

Just a brief update, I'm guessing you will have noticed this week has been a little quieter than others!

We decided not to conduct any rock blasting this week due to some technical issues, these have almost been ironed out.

Andy and his team will let you know if/when the blasting commences next week with a min of 24hrs notice, as in previous weeks they will drop in letters to you or knock to talk to you personally. The information will be posted on the site notice board as well as here on the portal...............so watch this space.!

Hope you have a lovely weekend, rumour has it the weather is supposed to be good as well.

PS The guys on site received this "thank you" card this week for getting involved with a coffee morning, they were over the moon they could be involved.

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I'm back from holiday now, so here is a brief up date:

Our work is steadily progressing and we are experiencing some challenging issues with the ground conditions. The rock strength within the shaft has exceeded our expectations and our experts believe the rock is almost three times the strength of concrete. "wow"

We will need to continue to blast the rock from the shaft and I can assure you it's proving to be a tough task, the site team will keep you informed of the timings.

On an environmental issue we will continue to use the removed rock to help to build and maintain the sea wall and use it for local repairs to the road in the area. By doing this we will minimise vehicle movement as we are almost keeping it in house here at Waren Mill.

In my absence there has been a lot of interest in the site by visitors and holiday makers, Andy and his team welcomed a family from Lewis and their 7 little boy was overwhelmed by the size of the digger plus two ex mechanical engineers who in their words were "nosey" and wanted to see extactly what was going on. Great stuff lads!

I will be visiting the site every Wednesday morning between 9 and 12.30 so come along and have a chat, I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have about the project.

It's good to be back, so keep logging on for updates..........oh, the new site notice board will also advertise the updates if you are out and about in the village

Good Afternoon,

I understand the weather is bright and sunny in Waren Mill today.

Just an update from my last blogg.

The technical issues we had regarding the road closure and one-way system have now been resolved, so with that in mind I am now confirming we will be re-introducing them from Tuesday morning 29th May until July as originally planned.

The road signs will be displayed accordingly so please be that little more vigilant around the village. The caravan park visitors and the residents opposite the works on the B1342 will continue to have access as previously.

Thank you all again for your patience during the work, we do appreciate it.

Don't forget Andy and his team are always on site during the day so if you want any questions answering they will be happy to help, likewise just drop me a line.

Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend.

Hello

I'm now back in the office at Seaham after my visit to Waren Mill. It was great to see how things are progressing in such a short time up there. Andy and his team have really been made welcome by the residents and holiday makers.

Have a look at some of the photos I've posted, even construction machinery can look good in the sunshine.

Good Afternoon

I thought it best to let you know........owing to some technical difficulties the traffic management will be withdrawn for the next few days.

This includes the full road closure as well as the one-way system ("hooray!" I can hear you from Seaham) and will be off until the middle of next week. We do expect to re-introduce them the latter end of that week; I will of course keep you informed so please log on regularly for the updates.

Apologies from us all as this was unexpected to us too.

Don't forget to get in touch if you need answers regarding the project we are happy to help.

I will be up Waren Mill tomorrow so if you see me come and have a chat........I will be the crazy lady in the hi-vis vest.

Good Afternoon

Just following on from Sarah's post, I just wanted to let you know the reason for my visit last Friday.

You should have by now received a letter explaining the temporary road closure commencing 16th May which is expected to last until 19th July.

This is due to the installation of the gravity sewer and pumped rising main. For health and safety reasons it will be necessary to introduce the road closure and because of the narrowness of the alternative route a one-way system will also be required to the west of the village. You will over the next few days see road signs giving you notice and diverting you so please be a little more vigilant.

I have attached a map of the road closure so please feel free to have a look and if you have any questions please drop me a line.

Thank you to those of you I managed to chat too, your understanding is so appreciated.

It goes without saying we will do all we can to minimise the disruption the best we can and please if you have any questions please let me know or ask our Site Team.

Hope you are enjoying this fanastic weather............ohh I would just like to say Waren Mill is truly a beautiful part of our region.

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Just thought I would start the ball rolling...........so here is Roger!

Hello, my name is Roger Smith and I am the Northumbrian Water Project Manager responsible for this Scheme as a whole.

A number of you will have met our Team when we held the Customer Event on Saturday 10 March at the Grace Darling Museum in Bamburgh

It’s probably a good time to provide an update as to what’s happening on-the-ground , not only for those residents presently in the Village, but also Owners & Landlords who live outside the immediate locality.

Last week we commenced work beside the future Lagoons , uphill on the farmland west of Budle Bay Campsite. Sections of hedge have been removed , access points have been stoned up, and some site accommodation is now in place. At certain stages , we will have that narrow road on a One Way Only system , but will keep you informed of when that will be in place.

Early part of this week we had (short term) traffic signals around the T junction in the centre of the Village. This was our Main Contractor , MMB , and Dunelm Drilling (Durham City) taking geological cores from the road, to check the strength and top level of the suspected rock bed , which will  help inform MMB on the most appropriate method & equipment for trenching the section past the entrance to Budle Bay Campsite , up to said T junction.

Yesterday we began accessing the large green adjacent the Junction, with Access Tracks being stoned – up and Site Accommodation being lifted into position on the western edge. Positioning those to the west means that we can reduce interruptions to the view from both permanent and rental properties in the heart of the Village, though of course large Plant will regularly be tracking backwards and forwards.

For those less often on their Computer or iPad , we hope to shortly have a timber Notice Board installed at a central position , where the Main Contractor can pin up regular updates.

By all means use this Community Portal to send us comments, questions, or even a request for a person-to-person chat. We like to hear from you.
