Project updates

Update by Julie Oakley

Good morning Everyone,

Is everyone ready for Santa?.

As Christmas quickly approaches we thought we would give you an update before the holidays on the progress we have made on the Wark Treatment works.

Since the last update we have reinstated the bottom section of site and tidied it up and wired up the new penstocks, they will now work automatically based on the flows coming into the site, the reason for this is it allows us to meet the EA consents for the site with the amount of flows that are being treated. We will also be carrying out additional investigation works into existing assets around the site. The demobilising on site is ongoing so there will be no construction works happening over Christmas. We will be returning to site for 2 weeks worth of work at the end of February, however dates are still to be confirmed.

We would like to once again thank you all for your continued support while the project was ongoing, if you have any questions or queries please feel free to leave a comment below or use the details provided to give us a call and one of the team will be happy to help. If you require any assistance over the Christmas break please use the following contact number 0345 717 1100.

On behalf of Northumbrian Water and MMB we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Thank you

Julie

Update by Julie Oakley

Good morning, Everyone,

Hope you all enjoyed Halloween and Bonfire night, now its the run up to Christmas, just dont know where this year has gone!

But on that note we would like to provide you with your monthly update on the treatment works here at Wark.

Since the last update we have carried out the following. We have started to demobilise the site starting from our top compound to a smaller set up at the bottom section of the site and civilised the area where our cabins were located before. Flows have been turned through the new HST tank and all over pumping has been removed from site. We have began to reinstate the bottom of the site with topsoil and stone prior to leaving site before Christmas. We have carried out some work in the village to help the community with their parking issue and constructed additional car parking spaces, these are situated in front of the doctors surgery, and we have also helped reinstate a nearby car park with stone that was left over from the works.

Once again we would like to thank you all for your continued support and patience. In the meantime if you require any further information or you have any questions or issues please leave a comment below or use the details provided and one of the team willbe happy to help.

Thank You

Julie

Good morning All,

Quick update on the works in your area

We are coming to the end of the project and we are looking to put something back into the community as part of the project. NWL and Our partner/contractor Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) have raised some funding to provide additional carparking to the grass area in front of the doctor’s surgery, we are hoping this will benefit the village, the residents, and tourists.

We anticipate the works to start from the W/C 14th October 2024, there will be traffic management on the main road which will consist of 2way traffic light system which will be in place for 2 weeks, and some delays may occur while the works progress, we apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

if you have any questions or queries please feel free to leave a comment below or use the details provided to contact us and a member of the team with be in touch.

thank you

Good afternoon All,

Hope you are you all preparing for the Autumn weather,

We would like to provide an update on the upgrade of the treatment works in your area.

The works are progressing well on site, the existing pumps, guide rails and duck feet in the pumphouse have been replaced to allow the new works to handle future flows. We have installed a new 450mm diameter piperun to increase storage capacity of the works as well. The top section of the site is planned to be reinstated over the next few weeks, with works shifting to the bottom of site. New penstocks are currently being installed. These penstocks are automatic and open and close based on the amount of flows entering the site.

We would like to thank you all again for your continued support and patience, and we hope we are not causing too much disruption, while the works continue.

If you have any concerns or questions please leave a comment below or contact us using the details provided and one of the team will be in touch.

Thank you

Julie

Good afternoon All,

whats with this weather, hope its not spoiling your summer plans

It has been a few weeks since I provided an update so thought I would let you know how we have progressed onsite over the past few weeks

Things are going well, the inlet chamber penstock which is a sluice, gate or intake structure that controls water flow, or an enclosed pipe that delivers water to hydro turbines and sewerage systems changes have been completed, We have also completed the storm tank modules which are used to regulate the flow of stormwater. They are designed to restrict the discharge rate of stormwater runoff by providing large-volume storage and incorporating an impermeable liner to prevent infiltration.

Hopefully we have not disturbed you too much while the works have continued, if you have any questions or queries please feel free to leave a comment below or use the contact details provided and one of the team will get back to you.

Once again I like to thank you all for your continued support.

The Primary settlement tank (PST) area is being finished off with the metalworks for chambers and topsoiling.

Good morning everyone,

hope you have all enjoyed the Bank holiday and half term, I thought I would check in and give you an update on the progress of the works here in Wark,

Works are progressing well; we are about to turn flows and commission the new primary settlement tank and associated chambers at the top end of the site. Meanwhile we have been excavating a 7m deep cofferdam to install the new humus settlement tank, this will be landed at the start of next month. We have carried out the final pour of the new inlet chamber, this will then allow us to set up a section of over pumping to bypass the storm tank allowing us to carry out modifications for the walls and channels.

I hope we are not causing too much disruption and we thank you for your continued support and patience, in the meantime if you have any questions or concerns please leave a comment below or use the details provided to contact us and a member of the team will get back to you.
