Project updates

Update by Julie Oakley

Good afternoon All,

whats with this weather, hope its not spoiling your summer plans

It has been a few weeks since I provided an update so thought I would let you know how we have progressed onsite over the past few weeks

Things are going well, the inlet chamber penstock which is a sluice, gate or intake structure that controls water flow, or an enclosed pipe that delivers water to hydro turbines and sewerage systems changes have been completed, We have also completed the storm tank modules which are used to regulate the flow of stormwater. They are designed to restrict the discharge rate of stormwater runoff by providing large-volume storage and incorporating an impermeable liner to prevent infiltration.

Hopefully we have not disturbed you too much while the works have continued, if you have any questions or queries please feel free to leave a comment below or use the contact details provided and one of the team will get back to you.

Once again I like to thank you all for your continued support.

Good morning everyone,

hope you have all enjoyed the Bank holiday and half term, I thought I would check in and give you an update on the progress of the works here in Wark,

Works are progressing well; we are about to turn flows and commission the new primary settlement tank and associated chambers at the top end of the site. Meanwhile we have been excavating a 7m deep cofferdam to install the new humus settlement tank, this will be landed at the start of next month. We have carried out the final pour of the new inlet chamber, this will then allow us to set up a section of over pumping to bypass the storm tank allowing us to carry out modifications for the walls and channels.

I hope we are not causing too much disruption and we thank you for your continued support and patience, in the meantime if you have any questions or concerns please leave a comment below or use the details provided to contact us and a member of the team will get back to you.

Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! I just wanted to update you of upcoming plans on site that you may notice this month.

Towards the end of this week, the site team will be carrying out piling works for the foundations of the new PST's. The piling work should take up to 5 working days to complete between the hours of 8am and 5pm.

Later on in the month, around the 23rd January, we will also be undertaking a drone survey of the sewage treatment works. This will be similar to the drone footage carried out in October last year, and should only take a couple of hours to complete.

If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment below and a member of the project team will get back to you.

Thanks again for your patience.

Good afternoon,

Since our last update, the site team have been busy setting up our new compound area. The stone laydown area has been laid, and the site cabins have been delivered and are now up and running. The Lamella Settling Tanks have also been delivered and set up which will temporarily replace the Primary Settlement Tanks (PST).

Over the next two weeks we will be commencing with the demolition of the PST's. Please be aware that during this time and due to the nature of the demolition works, there may be a slight increase in noise on site. We will also have wagon's coming to and from our working area removing materials. Please be assured that disruption will be kept to a minimum however, should you require any assistance our site team will be happy to help. Alternatively, please feel free to leave a comment below and a member of the project team will get back to you.

The site will be closing down for the Christmas break from Wednesday 20th December until Tuesday 2nd January.

On behalf of the project team, we hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year!

Update by Gabrielle Ward

Good Morning!

Following our recent letter you should have by now receieved in the post regarding our upcoming works at the Sewage Treatment Works to the South of Wark-on-Tyne village, I wanted to post our first update and introduce myself and some of the Project Team.
My name is Gaby Ward, I am the Customer Liaison Officer for Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) and will be conducting the engagement with our customers and posting regular updates on here. We also have Colin Burdon, Northumbrian Water's Project Manager, and Dave Mortemore, Northumbrian Water's Customer Care Manager.
Working alongside myself at MMB is Ben Corner, our Contracts Manager, Myles Johnstone our Site Agent and Nick Bhandari our Site Engineer.

We just wanted to let you know that our work is due to commence from Monday 30th October with completion aiming for September 2024. Please be aware for the first month or so, there will be an increase of vehicles accessing the STW while we set up our site compound, delivering materials and the site cabins. We will also be carrying out vegetation removal works. During this time, if you are in this area, please take extra care.

MMB will also be undertaking a drone survey of the whole of the sewage treatment works to enable them to capture some video footage, week commencing the 23rd October. This should take no longer than a couple of hours, and there will be minimal people on site during this time.

Whilst all our new assets will be confined to our existing sewage treatment works (and it’s therefore unlikely you will be directly disturbed by it), we will be temporarily accessing our site from the neighbouring field to the North of the sewage treatment works - you will see vehicular access a little closer than normal to the village.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment below, and a member of the project team will get back to you.

I will be posting another update in the next month or so.

Speak soon!
