GENERAL PROJECT

Wark on Tyne Sewage Treatment Works upgrade

Working with our framework partner, MMB, we are investing £3M to improve the performance of our sewage treatment works at Wark on Tyne village.

Planned Work

We are investing £3M to improve the performance of our sewage treatment works at Wark on Tyne village. The work will involve upgrading the inlet system to treat extra sewage flows into site, replacing two worn out treatment tanks and up-sizing another.  We are adding monitoring instruments to ensure the treatment works treats the sewage as expected in all weather conditions.  We are also ensuring that sewage from recent and future housing development in the village can be treated effectively, improving the quality of rivers and coastal waters for the benefit of people, the environment and wildlife.
