GENERAL PROJECT

West Hallington Reservoir Improvements

In order to maintain the safe operation of West Hallington reservoir there are works required to ensure the continued resilience of the asset in order to be compliant with the requirements of the Reservoir Act. In order to do this, it is necessary to carry out works to improve the drawdown capacity of the reservoir which will require construction activity from May 2022 until the end of July 2023. This will result in restrictions to access around the reservoir crest and an increase in construction traffic during this period.

Project updates

Update by Joan Tatters

Good Evening,

It's been a little while since my last up date and Mark and the team have made great head way.

They have continued with the form work for the crest of the chamber walls, had a concrete pour into the chamber walls. Meticulously excavated and set the steel works for the shutters and concreted the pipe supports.

Here is a small collection of the progression to give you a little more understanding:-

Good Morning,

Today's weather is a little better than last week.

Work has been a little bit of a challenge this week as a result of the weather, however the team have made the best of it.

The excavation of the reservior bed material and stone up is in place now and on the crest of the enbankment by removing of the stone pitching is slowing reducing it's size.

There is a new Community Information board for you to keep an eye on for updates, getting to know the team and just generally discribing the project.

I thought I'd like to share some of Mark's photos.

Good Afternoon,

I'd like to share our great team's work over this last week................as the weather has been kind they have started to move things along and the work on the "portadam" is taking shape.

Please again don't try to enter the fenced off area leading to the works, I know it's a beautiful area but what you see is the start of major works and the last thing we want is for anyone to get hurt.

Hope you have a lovely week.

Good Morning Everyone,

If you are out and and about this week you will notice our team will be taking delivery and erecting fencing along the west side of the west reservoir. This is in preparation of the extensive excavation they will be creating for the new piping into the reservoir. It's the first mile stone of the project so Mark and his team will be extremely active around that enbankment in the coming weeks. .

I know this area is popular with ramblers, dog walkers and residents but if you can change your walking routes please do so, and please don't attempt to walk nearby that location/area afterall your health and safety is our priority, please consider we will be there for approximately 12months.

Drop me a line if you have questions.

Thanks

Happy New Year to you all and I hope you had a restful Christmas.

Just thought I'd drop you a line to say as promised we have now started to set up the compound and site to begin the works. The weather hasn't been kind to us so we haven't had the best of starts, that said the team have "got cracking".

Mark McAlinden is the Site Manager who will be looking after the team, he has a wealth of knowledge and experience and has worked for MMB for over 10yrs now so you will see him quite a lot.

I will be popping in so please feel free to say Hello should you see me.

Here are a few photos kicking off the works and if you have any questions please feel free to ask away.
