GENERAL PROJECT

WINEP - Kirklevington Transfer

AS PART OF A £5 MILLION SCHEME, WE WILL BE CARRYING OUT ESSENTIAL WORK TO IMPROVE THE PERFORMANCE AND FLEXIBILITY OF OUR WASTEWATER NETWORK AND WASTEWATER TREATMENT WORKS IN THE KIRKLEVINGTON AREA. THE SCHEME WILL HELP TO IMPROVE THE WATER QUALITY OF THE THESE AREAS FOR THE BENEFIT OF PEOPLE, THE ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE AND ENSURE THAT CRITICAL WASTEWATER ASSETS CONTINUE TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY EFFECTIVELY.

Planned Work

As part of a £5 Million scheme, we will be carrying out essential work to improve the performance and flexibility of our wastewater network and wastewater treatment works in the Kirklevington area. The scheme will help to improve the water quality of these areas for the benefit of people, the environment and wildlife and ensure that critical wastewater assets continue to serve the community effectively.

The purpose of this project is to remove treated effluent discharges from Kirklevington Sewage Treatment Works (STW) into Saltersgill  Beck to comply with new Phosphorus consent standards. This essential work will improve the water quality in Saltersgill Beck. Kirklevington STW will be abandoned and a new transfer system constructed to transfer raw sewage on Bran Sands STW for full treatment via our existing network.

Kirklevington STW

Construction work will include modifications to the existing STW to retain elements of the inlet works and storm tanks along with the construction of a new sewage pumping station and below ground balancing tank adjacent to the existing STW boundary.

Transfer Main and Gravity Sewer

Circa 1.6km of pumping main will be laid from Kirklevington STW up to a high point just off Green Lane within Conyers School grounds. The existing drainage system within the school grounds will be upsized to accommodate the additional flow before connecting into the existing system within The Slayde estate and on to tour existing Worsall pumping station.
