GENERAL PROJECT

Castle Eden Dene Sewer

The project will reduce the risk of flooding and pollution in Castle Eden Dene by providing additional capacity in the sewer network in the Sunny Blunts area of Peterlee.

Update by Sarah Jayne Parvin

Good afternoon throughout the week we have been auger boring the ground where the storage tanks are going to be, to loosen the ground in preparation for the piling works to take place.

The pilling work will commence next week for up to 3 weeks. To minimise the disruption of the work we will be using a technique which pushes the sheet piles into the ground, rather than driving them by traditional methods such as a hammer or vibration.

On the Northern side, work has been slower due to increasingly poor weather conditions, with the decision to form a haul road part way round the pipeline this week to make access easier.

We would like to thank you for your patience and understanding. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us by commenting below or calling Northumbrian water on 0345 7171100.
