The construction phase of this project is now complete.
There may still be updates, so the project will remain here. We are still monitoring the project and will reply to any comments. So if you have any questions please feel free to comment or contact us here.
We are investing over £1,000,000 to improve and extend the sewer network in Aycliffe to support Durham County Council’s ongoing Forrest Park development.
WE WILL BE CONSTRUCTING A NEW SEWAGE PUMPING STATION ON THE FORREST PARK DEVELOPMENT SITE AND OVER 1.5KM OF PUMPING MAIN AND GRAVITY SEWER ALONG THE A167, ST ANDREW’S WAY AND HEIGHINGTON LANE.
The pipeline can be split into three separate sections:
A167 up to Millennium Way
We expect to install the pumping main along the A167 and St Andrew’s Way to the Millenium Way roundabout using trenchless technology (directional drilling) with excavated pits every 100 metres. As a result traffic management will be necessary (typically single lane closure without lights).
St Andrew’s Way – Millennium Way to Heighington Lane
We expect the continuation of the pumping main and gravity sewer from Millennium Way to Heighington Lane to be constructed within the verge / footpath. 2 way temporary traffic lights will be in place to assist with drainage work.
Heighington Lane
The gravity sewer along Heighington Lane will be constructed within the carriageway, connecting to the existing network opposite the junction with Bickford Terrace. A road closure has been in place since early February to allow us to install our drainage and this closure will remain in place until completion of these elements of work.
Our main temporary site compound will be located adjacent to the Forrest Park development site, however, we will also be establishing a smaller compound off St Andrew’s Way to assist with drainage work.
A high level summary programme can be found in the table below.
