Project updates

Update by Paul Davison

Good afternoon,

I’m pleased to confirm that we have now completed the reinstatement to the footpath along St Andrews Way with just a small section of topsoil and seeding to finish. This should be complete by the end of tomorrow which will allow us to remove the traffic management off St Andrews Way and open up the footpath again.

Please accept our apology for any further disruption this work has caused and I'd like to thank you for your continued patience and understanding while we rectified the footpath failure.

Many thanks

Hello,

Further to my previous update below, we were unable to return to site at the beginning of November and instead are preparing to start work to correct the defect along St Andrews Way footpath starting on Monday 10th of December. This will include the removal of the  trench backfill material (clay) and replaced with compacted stone prior to the re-construction of the footpath.

It will be necessary to introduce temporary traffic lights along St Andrews Way to re-construct the footpath starting with 4 way lights at the roundabout with Heighington Lane prior to the Christmas shut down. We will then return to site in January to complete the work switching to 2 way lights as we progress towards Millennium Way and expect to be complete early in February 2019.

A small welfare cabin will be located at the new Forrest Park pumping station site (adjacent to McDonald Restaurant) for the duration of the work.

I appreciate this may cause further disruption for the short period while we complete this  work and would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Hello,

The new pumping station located at Newton Park Services is now complete and operational and we are currently in the process of removing the temporary site compound and completing reinstatement work.

As you may be aware, the newly constructed footpath along St Andrews Way has suffered from settlement above the recently installed pipework. We have secured this area and investigations are ongoing into the cause of this settlement. Once concluded, we will need to return to site to complete the necessary remedial works.

We anticipate making a start on the re-construction of the footpath week commencing 29 October 2018 and expect to take up to 8 weeks to complete the work.

It will be necessary to introduce temporary traffic lights along St Andrews Way to re-construct the footpath starting with 4 way lights at the roundabout with Heighington Lane and reducing to 2 way lights as we progress towards Millennium Way.

I appreciate that you may cause further disruption for the short period while we complete this  work and would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Hi,
Just a quick update. The power supply for the new pumping station is proving to be problematic and as a result, there hasn’t been much progress to report in the past few weeks.  We are hopeful that the power supply will be energised later this month which will allow us to commission the new station, abandoned the old pumping station, demobilise and complete final reinstatement / landscaping.
Elsewhere, we are currently investigating and repairing localised footpath settlement along St Andrews way between Heighington Lane and 3M factory access. This section of footpath will be closed while we complete the footpath repairs and pedestrians diverted to the west side of St Andrews Way.

Just a quick update, the good news is that we  completed our drainage work on Heighington Lane, St Andrews Way and the A167 a couple of weeks ago.

However, starting Tuesday 31 July 2018, we will be carrying out final re-surfacing work along Heighington Lane which will require a further temporary closure. To minimise disruption, the road will be closed and diversions in place between 9:00am and 4:00pm and we expect this to take up to three days to complete. Pleased be assured that access to all properties will be maintained throughout this work.

While the drainage work within the highway is complete, work on the completion of the pumping station at Newton Park Services will continue. Depending upon the timeliness of the new power supply for the pumping station, our contractor, MMB may leave site for a short period before returning to finalise the construction and demolition work. The existing temporary compound will remain for the duration however, we expect to be complete and reinstated in this area by the end of September 2018.

Last Friday, Joan Tattters and I were invited to Aycliffe Village Primary School to take part in their “Celebration Assembly”.
We asked the children to draw a picture themed on “WATER” and we had the great pleasure of announcing the winners.
The children were aged 4-12yrs and we received a whopping 146 entries; their drawings certainly cheered up the hoarding at our Forrest Park site.
Forrest Park backs onto an industrial estate and directly opposite MacDonalds. When asked if they have seen their displayed work their hands shot up along with a fantastic grin.
Although we thought every entry was a “winner” (they all received a certificate and a bag of sweets) there had to be some outright winners, one from each year group.
So, the winners all received as well as a certificate and a bag of sweets a £10 book voucher for all their hard work.

The reaction from the children made the endless hours of laminating worthwhile!!!!

Good afternoon, just a quick update to advise Heighington Lane has now reopened. We still have one way traffic lights in operation on St Andrews Way. I have added a couple of pictures below.

We would like to thank you for your understanding and co-operation during this road closure.

Thanks

Good afternoon All, I have been out and about on site a got to speak with some of the lovely residents along the way.

I just really wanted to share with you a couple of pictures taken this week. These are of the lift of the cover onto the pumping station. **Interesting fact is that each half weights approximately 8.5 ton and is made out of reinforced concrete.

Thanks for your patience and continued support.

Enjoy the weekend I hear its supposed to be a hot one!

The last of the drilling works to install the pipe will be happening this week. After the pipe is installed we will be backfilling and reinstating the drill pits within the highway. The crane will be lifting the cover slab on to the Pumping Station next week ready for the pumps and ancillaries to be installed in the wet well.

It was nice to have the sun shining last week and long may in continue.

We will keep you posted as to our progress over the coming weeks, in the meantime if you have any questions please dont hesitate to contact us!

Thanks

Good Afternoon Everyone,

It's about time you had a further update.....

You may recall in January, Paul Davison (Northumbrian Water Project Manager) wrote to you informing you of a planned road closure on Heighington Lane. At the time we expected it to be complete within 8 weeks, however due to continued difficulties and recent weather this section of work has been delayed. We now anticipate the full road closure to remain in place between the 3M factory and St Andrews Way until Friday 1 June 2018. Existing signed diversions via A167 and St Andrews Way will remain in place for the duration.

On Monday 16 April, we will be introducing 2-way temporary traffic lights on St Andrews Way. This has allowed additional workforce to progress with drainage work along St Andrews Way heading towards Millennium Way and we expect to be complete by late June 2018.

Elsewhere, the installation of pipework along the A167 and St Andrews Way is progressing well within the existing lane closure and we expect to be in a position to remove this traffic management by mid to late May 2018.

On Tuesday 17th April we will be working directly on the new pumping station to lift in the new cover slab, the pump and pipework installation will follow as well as the excavation for a new chamber to house valves.

So a lot has happened and there is still little more to come!

Please watch this space as Paul and I will keep you up to speed with our progress.

Once again thank you for your patience during this essential work, we really appreciate it and please don't forget if you want us to answer any of your questions please feel free to get in touch.
