Hi

We have sunk the Sewage Pumping Station shaft to a depth of 10m and have completed the directional drill towards the compound at Newton Aycliffe Services.

The drainage on Heighington Lane is has progressed 80m up the road and has been tied into the existing sewer network.

We plan to switch the traffic management towards the middle of next week allowing us to complete the works onto St Andrews Way. Within the next few weeks we will commence directional drilling for the sewer pipe within the A167 and St Andrews Way.

We have been working closely with local business’ and the public to help where we can and thank everyone for their ongoing patience.

Good Morning,

Firstly I must apologise, I think suggesting Spring was on the way was probably the "kiss of .....!" the weather since has been awful.

Secondly you will have noticed there isn't much activity on site due to the snow, it's been so difficult for even our guys to get to work, as is the case for the rest  of the region I would imagine.

Simon asked me to mention the path diversion, I'm sure you can't even see it now due to the snow. With that in mind I won't be doing my visit today, the roads where I live are horrendous.

Stay safe and warm everyone, lets hope "the beast from the east" leaves us soon.

Good Morning,

Firstly, Paul and I would like to thank the residents of Bickford Terrance for their patience and understanding during our work. We visited some of you last week with a progress report so, for those we didn't get to personally speak to here goes:-

The road closure on Heighington Lane has been in place to safely construct the remainder of the drainage, to say it has been a challenging environment is an understatement! We have been working closely with other service providers to assist in finding any unidentified assets and as a result our drilling sub-contractor has been on site all week  progressing well with more excavations.

We are not letting this cold wet weather dampen our spirits and we are continuing as programmed.

The last of the tree pruning has been carried out on St Andrews Way ahead of the bird nesting season into March which suggests Spring is just around the corner.......yippee,  thanks again for your ongoing patience.

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Just a quick update....

We are now in full swing excavating the drill pits on the A167 ahead of the drilling Sub-contractor attending site next month. After a complex start on Heigington Lane we have identified and confirmed the services present within the road and are now constructing the downstream manhole. We thank you for your patients and would kindly ask you to observe the 20mph advisory speed limits on the works to help keep our workforce safe working adjacent to the highway. The site team are hoping we have seen the worst of the winter weather but remain prepared incase the snow and ice return.

Further to Joan’s update earlier this morning I’d just like to echo my apologies for delays in starting our planned work.

We are hopeful that we can progress well in the new year with activities running on all fronts and have updated the traffic information and estimated traffic management schedule which you can find on the ‘Planned work’ tab based on our revised programme

We will endeavour to keep you updated regularly in the new year.

Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.

Good Afternoon,

Apologies for the delay and lack of progress on Heighington Lane over the past few weeks. We have found a number of unknown services (gas, electricity, water and other old abandoned pipework) and other obstructions which we have had to deal with, however, we now believe we have a clear route for our drainage and will be progressing with the construction of the new sewer on our return in the new year. All of the trial pits will be backfilled, temporarily reinstated and traffic management removed over the Christmas Period.

Initially we will be re-establishing temporary traffic lights back across the junction with Bickford Terrace and progressing towards St Andrews Way. We are in discussion with Durham County Council to explore the opportunity of using a full road closure and should this be acceptable, we would look to switch to a full closure in early February to complete the remaining drainage up to St Andrews Way and expect to be complete on Heighington Lane early March.

We will keep you updated on plans in the new year. We really appreciate your patience understanding while we carry out this essential work and apologies again for any inconvenience this work is causing.

It remains for me to wish you a Merry Christmas and peaceful 2018.
