Project updates

Update by Julie Oakley

Good afternoon Everyone,

welcome to your monthly update on the upgrade of the treatment works here at Horsley.

We are making good progress on site and have now completed the RGF’s (Rapid Gravity Filters) which are now operational and fully automatic. This has allowed us to fully remove the temporary syphon pipe including the permanent reinstatement of the road crossing on Water Lane. Other highlights has been the substantial completion of the lifting monorail in the Chemical building, significant progress with the final reinstatement works across site and completing the majority of training with operational personnel.

We will keep you updated as best we can on a monthly basis but in the meantime if you have any questions, queries or issues please leave a comment below or use the details provided to contact us and one of the team will get back to you.

Thanks again for all your patience and co-operation whilst the works are ongoing.

Thank you

Julie

Good afternoon, Everyone,

Looks like that is it for our so called Summer, I hope you have all had a lovely one and looking forward to the autumn months ahead.

It has been a while since my last update, so I thought I would just touch base with on how we are getting on in Horsley.

Work on site is going well. We're almost done setting up the new filters, so temporary equipment can be removed soon. We've started working on the pre-dosing system, with only a few tasks left to complete. Preparation for the new chlorine contact tank has also started, which includes checking underground pipes, moving lights, and doing a trial to help finalize the design.

We would like to thank you for all your continued co-operation and patience while the works are ongoing, if you have any questions or issues please leave a comment below or use the contact details provided and one of the team will get back to you.

thank you

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all set for the school summer holidays, just hope the weather improves for you all.

I thought I would touch base with an update on the upgrade of the water treatment works in your area, I am pleased to say that great progress continues to be made at Horsley with the commissioning of six new rapid gravity filters (see the image below), this is the 2nd stage of the water treatment process, where water is filtered through a layer of anthracite, sand and gravel. The rapid gravity filters (RGF) are expected to be fully operational within the coming weeks.

Works substantially completed this month have included the diversion of a gas main and the site wide reinstatement including footpaths.

We would like to thank you all for your continued support and patience while the works continue and that I hope we are not causing too much disriptution in the village with the on going traffic. If you have any questions or queries please leave a comment below or contact us on the details provided and one of the team will get back to you.

thank you

“Good afternoon,

I'd just like to start this update by introducing myself! My name is Julie Oakley, I am the new Customer Liaison Officer for MMB taking over from Joan and will be conducting the engagement with our customers and posting regular updates going forward!

Works on site are progressing well.

Connection 19 (working area behind the treatment Works Bungalows) Update - We are aiming to pour concrete thrust walls pre Christmas, with the aim to backfill and remove our Temporary works early in the new year. This will compete the works on this section of pipe for now until we are ready to turn flows from the new Birney Hill pumping station later in the year.

The new pipe line that runs down the back fields towards Ovingham area have been installed, with the remaining works on the Ovingham side planned to be completed in the New Year.

The front end of the new treatment plant is now in full operation and performing as expected, giving more resilience to the treatment works.

FROM ALL OF US AT NORTHUMBRIAN WATER & MMB WE WISH YOU A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPY NEW YEAR.

Hi Residents of Horsley.

Its been a while since we have been in touch but we wanted to let you know about some important work we need to carry out within the treatment works to allow us to start up a section of our new treatment plant.

To make sure we can keep the water flowing to our customers this work needs to take place at night when water use is at it’s lowest.

The work is planned to be carried out between 8pm tonight untill 8am on Friday morning.

We are working around 150 metres from the nearest residential property and we are doing everything we can to keep disruption to a minimum but you may notice some increased noise levels during these hours.

We’re sorry if this causes any disturbance and if you need any more information or would like to speak to a memeber of the project team, please get in touch using the contact us tab at the top right of this page.

Thanks

Horsley Project Team

Good Morning All,

Apologies I wasn't about however, thanks Amanda for the update.

Just following on from Amanda's post...... the team worked unbelievably hard and demonstrated fantastic team work. They managed to get installed 2 x 355mm lines and 2 x 255mm lines of water pipe over 800m in total all in one weekend.

Absolutely great stuff lads!

I would just like to take this opportunity to once again thank the residents of Horsley, I know working weekends isn't our "normal" and we were very conscious of all the extra activity you may have seen during that time.

Joan
