Just a final update for 2021,

The team have really been challenged these last few weeks and have been working intensley to ensure the programme is kept on track which have paid off as the new Actiflo is now feeding water into the network.

The lads will continue to work during the Xmas holidays so if you see them please say "Hello" as they will probably want to see a friendly face during that time.

Just remains for me to say "Happy Holidays" and Best Wishes for 2022.

Just a brief update this week............

• Works are progressing well with the 1st stage of the new build and will hopefully achieve the water output in the next few weeks, thankfully the 24/7 work is complete.
• The new fence will be complete by Christmas.
• A new pipeline has been placed into the culvert at Kitty's burn to assist the works in getting water quality maintains the acceptable level.

Good Morning,

I would just like to let you know the night shift work is now complete opposite Ovingham pumping station and I do hope it hasn't been too much inconvenience for you.

We still have some work to do today but are hopeful to get things finished soon so with that in mind we are keeping the traffic lights on for another day or so.

Driving to site this morning I notice the local authority were also introducing some traffic management towards Ovingham so please take extra care.

This afternoon I will be dropping in a letter to the village residents regarding a temporary change to our working arrangements for a few days.

 Work at Horsley Water Treatment Works
 
We are carrying out essential works at our Horsley Water Treatment works site. This is to ensure we continue to provide drinking water to our customers across the region. 
 
In order to complete this work we will be working on evenings and overnight into the early part of next week.  
 
During this work you may notice an increase in activity, some low-level background noise and temporary lighting in land to the south of the treatment works during these times.
 
We will do everything we can to minimise any disruption to you and please be assured that no additional vehicles will be passing through the village.
 
The works we are carrying out are essential and a priority for us and we will be doing all we can to complete this as quickly as possible.

I would like to take this opporunity to thank the Parish Council Committe in allowing me and Mike Foster (NWL Project Manager) attend their Parish Meeting last night. 

Just to let you know we will be in touch to invite you to a coffee morning in October to give you an update and progress on the programme of work at the Water Treatment Works. 

It will give me the chance to meet some of the residents and introduce Mott MacDonald Bentley as the new contractor in a less formal format. 

I will confirm the date/time in due course and if you can come along even just to have a cuppa and a cake it will be good to see you.

Good Afternoon,

I just thought I'd show you a couple of snap shots taken by the team to demonstrate how "Table Mountain" (as we have nicknamed it) has started to deminish. Whilst we won't remove it entirely we have made progress in it's appearance.

A couple of weeks ago we were approached by a couple of residents who were at a loss as they needed a plinth built to sit a beautiful park bench to commemorate a neighbour. We obviously jumped at the chance for such a fantastic cause.

May I take this opportunity to introduce Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB)  we are a supply partner for Northumbrian Water and will be taking over the works here at Horsely Water Treatment Works from Interserve.

My name is Joan Tatters I am the Customer Liaison Officer for MMB along with Amanda Hunt from Northumbrian Water we will be conducting the engagement with our customers within this beautiful village of Horsley.  Our project team are now on site and I will be introducing some of the team over the next few weeks. Our work which is led by our Contract Manager, Andrew Shield and his team is to complete the up grading and replacing the current treatment works.  The team have informed me over the upcoming weeks, there will be the removal of an extensive amount of soil from site and this will take approximately 4-6weeks. Please be assured the soil is being environmentally transported and recycled at an alternative location and the drivers have been instructed to enter and exit the site via Water Lane only (NOT through the village). Hello everyone. In today's update, I want to concentrate on the works we are carrying out next to one of the water main in the south east quadrant of the Horsley site. We are carrying out piling operations before we start on the connection works.

We have designed and constructed a piling platform. This is to take the weight of the piling plant and equipment when we start constructing the piles. This platform will also take the pressures the piling plant and equipment will impose on the ground. The piling platform is constructed from well compacted granular material laid on top of a geogrid support. 

To construct the concrete pile, we will be cutting through clay, augering through the sandstone strata and drilling through boulders. The equipment we will be using is powered by compressed air. The plant to generate this pneumatic power has been set up on site next to the works area.

We carried out pre-start ground investigation surveys to determine the type of ground present at the piling location. Our team is prepared to auger and drill trhough the different types of ground that we expect to encounter. This photo shows the augers that are used to drill through cohesive material.

Our site teams are monitoring noise levels and vibration levels at the works area and at the site boundaries. There are no concerns regarding noise or vibration. Our site operations are progressing well. We have constructed several reinforced concrete piles and we expect to finish our piling operations in line with our programme.
