GENERAL PROJECT

Lockhaugh Sewage Treatment Works Screens Upgrade

Our proposed new screens will allow us to remove more solids from the influent. This will reduce maintenance activities and ensure an efficient site that is free of blockages and has significantly reduced wear and tear to the mechanical equipment. Our sewage treatment works aids NWG in improving the quality of rivers and coastal waters for the benefit of people, the environment and wildlife.

Update by Sarah Jayne Parvin

Good morning, since our last update things have been progressing very well and we are still on for completion by the end of December.

Following the successful proving period of the first new inlet screen, wash-presses and wash-water system, we were able to remove the two existing screens and compactors last week. We are busy completing channel modification works which we aim to have completed by the end of this week, ahead of the second new screen installation on Monday 23rd November.

Our next milestone is to have the second screen commissioned and operational by 8th December.
